Visited the restaurant after a couple of years, it was like re visiting the past. The food / ambience same as 30 years ago. Just brialliant
don't come to Amber for the ambience because there isn't any. the food is good, so put all your energies into relishing that, and you won't mind the worn decor and unimaginative layout. don't try anything except the mughlai stuff. the biryani is excellent (and i just had the rice, no meat, as i'm vegetarian). both veg and non-veg (my... I visited this restaurant after many years. It seems with competition this restaurant has lost its earlier look. Furniture looked to be old and worn. The food was as good as earlier days. Excellent and not so expensive. One of the finest places to eat but not sit as it used to be earlier.
We got horrible service on Sunday 22nd October over Dinner. The USP of this place for vegetarians is its Chana, Paneer and Masala Kulcha. At 8.30 in the evening, they ran out of Curd to make mixed vegetable raita. At 9.15 pm when a second repeat dish of Chana and Paneer Butter Masala was being ordered - it was informed... More
Was in Kolkata for a couple of days, and stopped by Amber, driven by a sense of nostalgia for the great food that used to be sold here once. Was bitterly disappointed - firstly, the waiter tried to serve the Biryani and main course before the Prawn cocktail (has its place moved from starter to Dessert?), the Prawn Cocktail (which... More
This is one of the oldest in Kolkata, but still this is one of the best. Cost is little bit higher but it is at par with the quality and service. The ambience is very good and you can enjoy the evening with your family.
Go to Amber for the good food. The place is quite near the Chandni Chowk Metro station. Most of the dishes we tried in this restaurant have turned out to be great! Tandoori chicken, Fried fish, Baked fish, Mutton Rogan Josh deserve special mention. Starters (especially the fish ones) were also quite good. For desserts try the Kulfi malai. The... More
Went with my friend. He had Blenders Pride ( Rs.145 peg) and I had Pineapple Blossom (Rs.100). We also had Chicken Reshmi Kebab (Rs.210). Since we were full, we did not have much this time. The ambience in the bar and quality of food and service is very good. Would recommend to all who want to enjoy their evening drinks.

I have been a regular visitor to this old restaurant since1970 when Mr Akhtar was the Manager and who used to entertain us with his urdu couplets. The restaurant still maintains its quality and service. One has to wait for considerable time if he goes around 8 pm without advance table reservation. It,in itself,is a proof of its quality and popularity.I... More
