We know the Leopold well and every time we pass through Mumbai we like to go there, perhaps even bringing friends.
This time I went with my wife and ordered the prawns with curry, steamed rice and vegetables.
The waiter Kuldip brings us the first...two courses, but instead of vegetables he brings us a sauce certainly with vegetables but finely minced. We explain that we would like simply boiled vegetables. At this point the waiter, perhaps not to break the tradition that the Leopold's waiters are rude as the place will always be full, began to shout, sticking his spoon into the sauce and kicking up large spoonfuls of slime, shouting "what is this? chicken?".
Everyone present was looking towards us. I think they thought I didn't want to pay the bill.
At a certain point I feared he would pour the sauce on our heads... in any case I was preparing to fight him when my wife got up and said: "Let's go to the manager". The manager who was informed of the problem said to Kuldip, "Why don't you give them what they want?"
So, the boiled legumes arrived. Kuldip listen: “perhaps we hadn't explained ourselves well because Indian dishes are not easy to understand for us Europeans and for that I apologize, but you can't treat a customer like me who wears a Leopold t-shirt when he goes to the beach.
In the end I also gave you a tip so I forgave you otherwise I would have to give you one in this review.
The next day, however, I carefully avoided the area of the previous day so I was served by Youbak, a perfect waiter who served us very well, patiently explaining to us that we would eat, that is, prawns with curry, rice and a Pomfret fish (which in Italy is called Pesce Castagna) cooked perfectly in the oven. Great food, great service, fair price and ice-cold beer. We will return but I don't know if we are prepared for the Kuldip area.More
