to dine below the stars and trees in the middle of the lovely quadrado in trancoso is really something, even if the food is not that great.
we were expecting to taste the best moqueca (african-brazilian fish and seafood stew) ever, but the food was just OK. the service, although friendly, was really slow.
but what a place: comfy chairs...

We stayed 5 nights in Trancoso and figured some of the places we wanted to try, based on TA and our Pousada's recommendation: O Cacauo, Capim Santo and Silvana. Two great hits and a complete miss

We enjoyed Silvano's so much during our 6 night stay in Trancoso that we went twice! We had the fish stew both times as we enjoyed it so much (local name Moqueca), with a starter of crusty calamari the first time and crusty prawns the second. The food here is fantastic. Good quality and good quantity.
