The Moqueca de Camarao com Banana = the Bahia version of Bomb.com. Two thumbs up for the friendly and attentive waitstaff. Another two thumbs up for being next to Sankofa dance lounge! My girlfriends and I can't wait to go back! More

I love moqueca, but the truth is that are many other places that you can enjoy this delicious brazilian dish. After reading many good reviews about this place I went there for lunch. The place was empty and "The Moqueca", was a deception, it was just okay! I had experienced much better ones. The place has no charm at all, despite it´s... More

Had the seafood moqueca with bananas. I spend all my time in Brazil chasing after mocequas (I just love that dish). This moqueca is different. It has a similar savory seafood base, infused with a light sweetness. It was amazing. Also had amazing salads and capirinhas. The service was very friendly and faster than expected, especially in Brazil. If you... More

Based on reviews on TA, I decided to try Panela da Bahia. The moqueca with shrimp and bananas was no longer on the menu. However, the server recommended Moqueca Misto which had shrimp and fish. The moqueca was perfect!! I have been eating in Salvador for a while and this is one of the best I have ever had. The... More

Dear Pedidoc, We do in fact still have the moqueca with shrimp and plantains (banana) on our menu. We had changed the name of the plate to Moqueca da Bahia. We reverted to the old name in our latest menus so as to avoid confusion. Thanks for the review. The management, Panela da Bahia More

We went here for lunch, after reading really positive reviews - and were a little disappointed. While the food was good, we were the only people there, and while cheaper than other traditional cuisine places nearby, was no where near as good. It is a small and quant location, but lacking atmosphere. Also the Sangria was dragged up from the... More

When we got to the restaurant they were about ready to close, but they kept it open and offered a great service to us. Drinks were nice and chilled, not only the alcoholic ones, but the refrigerantes as well. We ordered some french fries (as a drinking snack) and they were brought out warm and crunchy. PERFECT!! Have definitely been... More

Following recent reviews of Panela da Bahia, and being a returning visitor to that region of Salvador, I thought it was an ideal opportunity to sample their wares. Being located in Pelourinho, adjacent to the home of the world famous Afro-Brazilian cultural group headquarters of Olodum certainly helped in pinpointing Panela da Bahia. Now the good part!! Following the recommendations... More

My friend and I came across this restaurant on a Tuesday just before heading over to hear "Geronimo" play. The owner recommended the Moqueca De Peixi com Banana and OMG it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere and service was wonderful and just added to an amazing day spent in Pelourinho. We went back later that evening and experienced a great... More

Fantaaaaaastic. Amazing moqueca de peixe com banana de terra and other great seafood dishes. Evandro the little waiter is a gem. They have soft samba playing in the background, cold beer and sangria full of local fruits. For a restaurant in Salvador, the service is suprisingly fast. The moqueca was served in a clay pot accompanied by a side of... More

The food at Panela is delicious ! Panela is located in a beautiful historical location. Panela ,specializes in typical food from Bahia. My friends and I enjoyed a tasty moqueca de camarao com banana. The food alone is worth another visit to Pelourinho ! The word panela means saucepan. The name of the restaurant is fitting for it's cuisine...flavorful, fresh... More
