There is no shortage of fish restaurants along the northeast coast of Brazil, but most cook fish without any imagination and almost never do justice to the excellent fish variety available. The Wanchako chef used her good taste and imagination to adapt some of the best Peruvian recipes to the local fish, with mouth-watering results. I travel often to Maceio... More

I have always listen and read lots of compliments of Wanchako and I had put it on my to do list when I went to Maceio. The place is fancy, with a typical Peruvian decor but it was so crowded at this day and the service was so poor that I didn't like the food that much. When I go... More

Go and enjoy. A good surprise. Ask the special menu and be sure you will find a good peruvian fish food in maybe the most ilogical place in the south america.

We started with Ceviche and Pisco sours, both excellent but unspectacularly normal. Then I ordered a shrimps dish as a main course. When the waiter came with our orders I felt my heart sink with what I saw... on my plate were sauteed shrimps accompanied with chickpeas and pureed avocado and the mixture did not look particularly appetizing. My whole... More

It is considered the best restaurant in Maceio. It combines the peruvian and japanese cousines with some local ingredients as coccoa milk and speciearies. However the really unmissable are the entries: all sort of ceviches (fresh fish cooked into lemmon, vinager, like a german tartar steak). The main dishes convinces much for their description as for what they really are.... More

More

It is one of the best restaurants in the country! Although is a little expensive, it is worth the price! Try the Mama Cocha or the Don Juanito dish. Amazing sensorial experience!

Wanchako is likely the best, or one of the best, restaurants in Maceio. It is recognized as such in both the local and national Brasilian press, and most commentators rank it as the best Peruvian restaurant in the country. The restaurant is a bit more "formal," and more expensive, than most others in Maceio and it is air conditioned, located... More
