I've only had appetizers and wine there. The apps were "good" but nothing special. The wine specials are what draws me in.

Four of us dined at Vermilion on a Sunday night and chose the tasting menu paired with wines for $88 per person. After dining at a number of the top rated restaurants in the DC and Virginia area, I would say the food, wines and service were among the best we had and at a very reasonable price. We would...

This is a lovely and chic restaurnt in the 1100 block of King St., in Old Town Alexandria. Lovely gas lamps welcome you inside and then the fun begins.
Service was excellent here, the food was very good and so artiistically presented. The wine list is large with many old and new offerings you will be pleased with.

We came here for brunch on Sunday. The pea soup is extremely good, with a nice light taste that you typically do not get in any of the pea soup derivatives. However, the rest of the food was merely average or only slightly better than average.
The prices are slightly higher, but is typical of prices in the Old Town...

We had dinner here last night and it was a wonderful meal in every way. Nice welcome when we arrived. We asked for a window table when we were seated and they politely explained the available one was reserved. One course later the manager explained another window table was available due to a cancellation and they graciously moved us. We...

Our first visit back since a recent change in chef: this time for lunch. The menu was similar to before: a short list of starters, salads, sandwiches, and mains, with three lunch combination options. Despite an early arrival to an almost-empty restaurant, service was painfully slow: 30 minutes before first course, then another 20 minutes before main, with long waits...

Had a catching-up dinner with girlfriends here. Vermilion has excellent food, though it's a bit on the pricey side. I opted for the beet sald, which was just divine. Both friends had steak and raved about the plate. Dessert - Nutella Cheesecake - was good, though I regret not ordering the S'more Brownie Sundae. Next time, perhaps. The waiter was...

What more could you want than seasonal, artistically arranged food that is hand picked&hand packed? This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the DC metro area! My SO and I went there to celebrate an anniversary and I am so glad we did. The service was wonderful, the decor was nice, and the food was DELICIOUS! Also, the...

Hubby and I were invited by a Friend for brunch here last Sunday. After our return to Alexandria, we often passed this spot, but never went in. The food was quite surprisingly good. As many readers of my reviews know, I do not give high praise lightly. If I show up with money in my hand, I expect a restaurant...

The service is great even during peak hours. The wait staff appears to work well together. If you arrive early I would recommend sitting in the lounge/bar for a snack or some interesting drinks. Try the frickles! The fried sour pickles are delicious.
The tasting menu is a great option for exploring a wide variety of items on the menu. ...
