We spent Memorial Day weekend in Alexandria, and hadn't given much thought to restaurants. At about 5PM on Saturday night, we decided we had better make a reservation somewhere, or risk a long wait on a busy holiday weekend. A quick review of TripAdvisor found Le Refuge among the best rated restaurants in the area, and as an added plus... More

Well we visited this lovely French bistro restaurant again and thoroughly enjoyed it! You will truly feel like you are in a Paris bistro as it is quaint, cozy and very interestingly decorated. Service is excellent, the food is wonderful, the wine list is nice and reasonable....what more can I say but Ooo Lah Lah Le Refuge. I highly recommend... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by the B&B where we were staying. Their favorite restaurant in Alexandria. So glad that we asked for a recommendation. Great food and wine. We will be back.

2 friends and I took water taxi from National Harbor over to Alexandria which itself is quaint and a relaxing experience. This little restaurant is a local favorite and can see why. On side street of King street, this place has amazing food, ambience and service! Very small and quaint....not to be missed. We had scallops, tuna, and soft shell... More

Le Refuge is a small French restaurant on on of Alexandria's main streets, N Washington St. Cozy, romantic, excellent service and wonderful food. went on a Wednesday evening and it was full during the 7 pm dinner hour. Recommend reservations. Old Town Alexandria can present parking challenges, but in addition to on street parking, there is a public pay lot... More

Long before "sustainable" entered restaurant vocabulary, Le Refuge practiced t. And today, when a rare item is on the menu they tack a informal sign on the front door stating "shad roe today" or "soft shells". Went again for lunch this week and experienced the tail end of the shad roe season. My plate had a perfectly cooked to order... More

La Refuge has very good food and often seasonal. I love shad roe in the early spring. The tables are small and crowded, but the atmosphere is good.

After reading multiple positive reviews my wife and I decided to give Le Refuge a try. What a wonderful experience! Seating is tight and cozy, very intimate and the walls are lined from floor to ceiling with French decor. As soon as we walked through the door we were transported across the Atlantic to a little restaurant in the middle... More

My friend was in the mood for French today, and gave the names of three French places in Old town. I came to trust trip advisor, saw how highly rated the restaurant was, and decided we must go. You walk in, and it isn't very big. You are greeted with a smile and feel like you have entered someone's home,... More

Yes, the space is tight, and it can be pretty noisy. However, the charm and the food more than make up for it. The filet mignon au poivre was delicious! The kind of dish that makes you sad to take the last bite! The service, also, was excellent. If there was a little more breathing room, and perhaps some soundproofing,... More
