Delicious, overpriced food; perfect for a business dinner, but not so much with casual friends The restaurant was a huge difference from what was happening on the streets during SXSW; it was SO quiet and hush, we were probably the loudest ppl in the restaurant. Thankfully, no one in the restaurant seemed to care! Highly recommend for a serious business... More

This is the equivalent of a michelin 2-star in Europe. I live in a Foodie town (Portland), but Congress is better than anything in Portland. It is not Le Bernardin (Manhattan), but is it truly outstanding. I had this evening one of the finest meals that I have had in years, at Congress. I eat at many of the best... More

We were visiting our daughter in Austin and she made reservations for all of us at this restaurant. When I checked the web site and menu I'll have at admit I wondered if I really wanted to go to go there. Items on the menu are unusual (as opposed to a meat/potatoes menu) and I had to do a lot... Absolutely try the tasting menu. If you are going to eat at a restaurant of the caliber and detail of Congress, you owe it to yourself to try the full tasting. Each dish has so many components that it would take a novel to describe them. They are eye appealing and full of flavors that dance across your tastebuds. I... More

Had the 3 course dinner and enjoyed each bite. It was for a business dinner and the quality and pace of service was perfect.

We both had the 3 course dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the quality, presentation and satiation. Each dish (and we had six different ones) was beautifully presented and had superb tastes. It's nice that Austin has such a fine white table cloth location in the heart of downtown. The ambiance is quiet and lovely. The service was excellent. All... More

Only serve fixe prix meals. Food was excellent but have had better and extremely expensive. Seating is too chummy for an upscale restaurant. Way too many choices in Austin to ever go again.

My husband did the 7 course and I did the 3. We appreciated them letting us do this as we have been places that require you to order the same thing. The food was outstanding and at the end my husband declared that it was top to bottom the best meal he'd ever had! It was very unpretentious but I... More

I went the tasting menu route (7 courses) and this is a set menu. All of the food was very well prepared, very well plated, and melted in your mouth but nothing wowed me. There were a few items I wasn't fond of on this menu despite usually liking them but my boyfriend didn't have a problem with them so... More

We absolutely love the food at Congress. It is, by far, the best restaurant in Austin. The decor is chic and intimate and the service is unpretentious but very gracious and attentive. Our only complaint is the overhead recorded music they play. We love the live music scene in Austin but we find it distracting when high-end, "white table cloth"... More
