The prices are high compared to similar staffs available in India. Also, it is very difficult to judge the quality and all the products are duplicate. If you see a brand image of Nike or Adidas do not be overwhelmed as they are not original.

The price here is not dirt cheap, and the food is not fantastic either. There are tons of stalls and restaurants here, and I guess you have to be lucky or know the place well enough to know which stall to patronise. It's quite a scene though - you can't find many of this kind of streets. Also, one should...

I had read lots of write ups about how great the hawker food is but that's a lie. First up you have to find the damn stalls you can't see anything for bags then you have to walk down dodgy alleys and back streets as there are only a few inside the main petaling street area.

Be careful of touts with menus....especially for seafood items with no prices...to avoid nasty surprises. Always order items with prices, or if not priced, ask for the price.
I think my expectations were pretty high after seeing reviews on these hawker stalls (specifically, food).

Very colorful market, with cheap copies of handbags, shoes, clothes dvd's etc. Great food also. Short train ride from city.
The hawker food in Chinatown are some of the best in KL. In general, the food is delicious, reasonably priced, and boy, watching the cooks fry anything in a wok is an art form in itself. And they are fast!
Very tasty food at unbelievable prices. Difficult to choose which stall to go to but we were staying with relatives and friends who knew their way around. These places have a real buzz about them and choosing different courses and sharing makes for a great dining experience.
