This restaurant is located in the beautiful kiyamachi neighborhood along a canal. We sat with our two children at the counter, apparently the best experience. If you enjoy seeing passionate chefs at work, this is a great experience. They have some excellent sakes. Dinner featured course-after-course of small plates. Not extreme fusion, rather modern interpretations of japanese kaiseki food. Although... More

This was definitely an experience. I had read about this restaurant (Giro Giro Hitoshina) on Rough guides and made reservations a couple days in advance. We had a 9 course meal, which each small dish was well thought out and delicately prepared. There were a couple things that I wasn't crazy about, but as a whole, it was delicious. Definitely... More

We were blown away by our meal at Guilo Guilo (Giro Giro). We were treated to 10 courses of exquisite and innovative modern Japanese dishes for less than 4,000 yen per head! What's more, the meal was supremely fun! Although it was quite an ordeal to communicate our destination to our taxi driver, we ultimately realized that Japanese taxi GPS... More

This was one of the best values we had while dining in Japan. Having just returned from a two week trip, this was a special treat in Kyoto. We had a unique Kaiseki style dinner for two for approximately $110 with Sake included. All of our courses were nicely prepared and while it was not a traditional Kaiseki meal, it... More

Awesome, modern restaurant with a great updated take on the Japanese classic multi course menu. Great service, lively, fun, zany atmosphere (book a seat at the bar and watch the amazingly busy chefs at work in the completely open kitchen if you can) and delicious and imaginative food make this a one of a kind place in Kyoto. We had... More

The Kaiseki set is fixed at 3900yen, and the menu changes with the season. Well it is autumn now and it should be good! For the price it is hard to beat anyway, no wonder they are extremely popular and featured in many guide books and newspaper travel reviews. The food is very interesting in presentation and taste. The chef... More

We booked dinner at Giro Giro on a friend's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. The quality of food, incredible flavours and presentation made for a fabulous night. We ate at the 6pm sitting, slightly rushed to get through all the courses in 2 hours. Recommend sitting downstairs as watching the chef's prepare the food is an experience in itself.

The place is cool and the staff ( including chef) is very young, friendly and funny. They serve a modern kayseki (sequence of small dishes). The food is average, nothing special. If you will spend a short period in Kyoto and dont have time to try many restaurants I would recommend you to try another one, not this one.

The place is hard to find, if you have troubles it's just behind the sunroute hotel. Reservation is mandatory. The food is great, the staff is kind and young, with some English knowledge. A really new tasting experience for us. In two the bill was 9490 yen, definitely worth it.

It is difficult to find inspite having an experienced taxi driver, map and a GPS but worth the trouble! It is a casual restaurant that serves a modern take on kaiseki. Each course is not only beautifully presented but also teases the palate with the various flavors and textures. Easily one of the best meals we have had in Japan... More
