In a quiet, leafy Kerala garden lives an unassuming legend. He goes by the name, Manu. That he is not a god is a surprise to all who come across him. Perhaps, he is a god in the making; but he does not like to blow his own trumpet. You'll be a fool to go to Varkala and not hunt... More

We loved our meal at Johnny Cool's. It's a really lovely, chilled out place, where everyone sits around a communal table. The owner, Manu, is the smiliest, most charming man you will meet in Varkala and you will forgive the 3 hour wait for your food! There is no dinner menu as such, you can request something if you particularly... More

Gotta agree with the review before me.... you probably will never wait longer for your food! But man it is worth it! We were there quite a while ago and after trying here and there we ended up to only eat here for two weeks... nothing else compared to the delicious food and the shanti atmosphere!

I know Johnny Cool's Café from my last visit to Varkala. Manu, the chef, is an amazing cook. He does delicious Indian food, but also continental style. Fresh fish with vegetables, lovely dals and currys, and if you fancy, the most amazing cakes... cheesecake, brownies and he has delicious coffee, too... It's an experience, to go there, enjoy the shanti... More
