We came across this place on trip advisor and I'm glad we did! It was a lot of fun with a lovely welcoming family and the food we cooked was very tasty and plentiful! Amazing value for money.

Definitely one of the highlights of Periyar - we were booked on this cookery class by our Tour Company and didn't really know what to expect. My husband was only so-so about the idea but he absolutely loved the evening.
Arrived at the edge of the village and had to walk up a steep, dark track but when we got...

One of the highlights of Thekaddy. Family welcome you into their home and teach you to cook a few Indian dishes. You eat the lunch that you cook, better and more tasty than any restaurant. A great experience with a lovely family. Went with family, children (11 and 12) were patiently welcomed. They have very few people at any single...

We spent a lovely evening in Sheril's modest home, which can be found up a steep path just outside Kumily centre. We chopped veg and then learnt to cook various curry dishes as well as poppadoms and parotha. A warm and friendly family and a memorable way to spend a fun evening.
Go here if you're looking for the experience of sharing a home-cooked dinner in a simple Kerala home, or want a quick culinary lesson. Be prepared to work and help prepare a good meal. The experience trumps.
Location - Out of Kumily town, about 100 metres before Periyar Hospital. You have to walk another 100 metres up a dimly-lit, steep,...

I had such a great evening tonight, it exceeded all expectations I had. Sheril is a warm, friendly and funny host who made us all feel welcome in his home.
He included everyone in the making of each separate dish and made it all seem so easy and fun at the same time. I'll take home some great memories of...
