Excellent food, beautiful staff and supporting a really good cause. I visited Green Star many times and really enjoyed my meal every time. Highly recommend the corn, sliced beef, and pork and eggplant however you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Not fancy, just great staff and good food, bring good company and there is no better... More

It is worthy to pay a visit to this restaurant just because of the purpose of their opperation. Don't expect to find something special. Just basic choices at very low prices.

We went for lunch and we were the only ones there, the food was OK, the service was good, but having visited in previous years we felt that it could do with a bit of a menu update.

Went to Green Star last night to check it out. Honestly, a previous review talking about its roadside atmosphere is part of why we went as we wanted something casual but tasty--that's exactly what we got. Never mind the plastic chairs, it's a wooden and sturdy table and the servers are very nice and attentive. We ordered the fried corn... More

It has been a year since I last visited the restaurant that ploughs all of its profits into the Green Gecko Project - an amazing home for former street children. The food is delicious, with some speciality dishes to get you really interested. The prices are unbelievably low .... and the staff are friendly, efficient and very entertaining! Go!

..it is for a good cause right? So i cannot really objectively write a review since i do no want to be a spoiler. hard to find place in a dark street, nice hippie like ambiente, you seat on plastic seats and the tenant may ask you to share table with other people if there isn t enough space, makes... Wow Larry ... It would seem you were quite objective & to the point .... not a 'real restaurant'. The food,..well..Cambodian original I guess, so don't expect any gourmet experience". You got it in one, Larry aside from the real restaurant comment. Larry, Green Star is a 'local experience' with traditional, fresh, Cambodian dishes ... locals as well as others... More

My fave in Siem Reap...yep its not flash, and the service is friendly rather than polished but what you get is bloody fabulous food (the roasted corn, morning glory, even the raw shrimp thingies). Avee is spectacular, Doug is wonderful and all the profits go to supporting young Cambodians become the leaders their country so desperately needs. Get your thongs... More

Eagerly looked for this restaurant. A bit disappointed when we got there, the place was not very clean albeit that the food is cheap. The owner was doing a marketing job to the table near us. After 10 minutes of staring at the menu and trying to order we got up and left.

Eric, we are sorry your experience/perception of Green Star was not a good one. Certainly it is in contradiction to that experienced by most. I would question your view that the restaurant is not very clean. The venue is old & may, to some, give rise to such a perception but be assured, it is not the case. I try... More

This has to be the best reason to eat in Siem Reap. Everything is for the kids. They are part of the green gecko project and all the profits go back into the business, the tips go to the staff. Doug (an Aussie) and his wife Avee, have created something special. The food is good and cheap, the beer is... More

I have been here twice before. It is basic dining, simple, no need to dress up...but good if it's helping others to gain skills..
