Uchu specializes in meats. The alpaca and lomo anticuchos are amazing (to die for). We actually made 2 meals from them. It is a bit expensive by Cusco standards, but worth it for a special occasion. The soft jazz gives it a great atmosphere a bit different from the Andean music in all of the tourist restaurants.

My wife and I both had the meat plate, which contained 3 4 oz steak of Llama, Alpaca, and steak. Make sure to get the mashed potatoes with chili in them, out of this world delicious. You end up cooking the meat to your liking on a very hot stone they bring with each plate.

I found this restaurant on Tripadvisor on the last night of our stay in Cusco. We arrived around 7 pm, and decided on our food. We started with a mouthwatering bruschetta with Kalamata olives and a refreshing Leche de Tigre, flavored with passion fruit. Food presentation was excellent. The main course was a combination of steak and mahi-mahi. The meat... More

Alpaca steak served / cooked on a hot stone with a wide variety of yummy sauces was absolutely superb. When choosing your sides, pick the mashed potato with peanuts and chilli in. Don't have the local crispy fries which are solid beyond belief and not a good accompaniment. The mash is lovely and goes really well. The other reason this... More

Liked it so much that we ate here 3 times during our 5 days in Cusco. Quiet location, away from tacky, poor-quality over-priced venues on main plaza. Cool decor, always got a good table. Friendly staff, well timed service - one of few places in Peru who deliver drinks as apperitif (we found most places brung drinks with the food).... More

Our hotel recommended this gem that is right off the square. We loved it so much we went there 2 nights in a row. The Passion Fruit Chilcano drink was fabulous. We had the Shrimp Ceviche appetizer and loved it. the stuffed potato appetizer was really good! The meat (steak, lamb, alpaca) is brought out on a special wooden tray... More

The food was excellent, mostly. I had a nice mahi mahi which comes out like all their meats, served on a hot stone. It was cooked perfectly and very fresh. The fried potatoes are the worst we had in all of Peru. They were so hard on the outside they were nearly impossible to eat. The service, while friendly, was... More

We splurged on our last night in Cusco and went to this fabulous, slightly quirky little restaurant. We had the mixed grill platter...steak, llama and lamb, served table side on a hot stone platter. Mouthwatering! The four sauces added variety and interest. Our appetizer was fried stuffed mash potatoes - quite unique and delicious. Service was great and we loved... More

Reviews here made me want to try alpaca again, having been turned off by my first try somewhere else. Glad I did! Wife and I split the 3-meat sampler: alpaca, lamb, mahi. Came with four delicious sauces and served still sizzling on a hot stone, so we could take each meat off at exactly the right stage of "doneness". One... More

Enjoyed a romantic evening here for our anniversary, staff was unbelievably accomodating and even brought us out an incredible pisco mousse to share on the house for our special day. Loved the alpaca and the mahi mahi -- extremely surprised at the fresh quality of the fish. Great wine, and are launching a new wine menu. Hopefully we'll be back... More
