When people go to Singapore, they must try the famous and popular Hainanese Chicken Rice. This restaurant is highly recommended by the travel guides. So my friends and I decided to go there and tried it. We ordered Hainanese Chicken Rice. And we ordered white rice to eat with the chicken. The soup was complimentary, the taste was average. But,... Below average chicken rice served with thin tasteless chilli sauce, dry chicken and served with surly customer service. Plus, the back of the house kitchen is filthy and the toilets are dangerously slippery. The bill for 2 people came to $50.80 which is pretty expensive for chicken rice.

A big name in the market with many years of history! The place wasn't fanciful, it is an old styled restaurant which is famous for its chicken rice. It is not bad but I wouldn't say it's the best. But the pork chop which was fried with tomato sauce with green beans & potato were awesome, best ever!

hainanese chicken rice and steamboat. the perfect pair. it's what I always have when i'm there. give it a shot. i would say thien kee chicken rice at golden mile is nicer, with more tender chicken pieces but the chicken rice at yet con is still the best and you won't find the same ambience to have chicken rice anywhere... Someone suggested this place to us, stating that it's very authentic and has no chains. We liked the chicken and the rice. Chicken was juicy and tender. We ordered 'no skin no organs' plate for two. And we got this beautiful juicy chicken breast. Rice was fragant and fluffy. We loved it.

If you're the type of person who needs food + ambience, then this restaurant isn't for you. This establishment is solely for people who want good food without five-star service, views etc. This is old school at its best. Staff that look like they've been working there for the last 50 years; cashier (clearly the boss) with abacus on his... More

I have always liked the siew york (roasted pork) served here, crispy with a nice sauce to go with the chicken rice.

The food is good, not just the chicken, the roast pork is good too. The place is like a throw back to the 70s and 80s. The old man running the till (assuming he's the owner) uses an abacus! And if you want to get a receipt... it's written in chinese calligraphy!Never been there for dinner, I've only done lunch... More

This place is sooo over-rated. Maybe the food used to be good years ago but now it's just really average. The eatery itself looks really dismal as well. I wouldn't recommend eating here. For good chicken rice in a less dismal setting, try boon tong kee instead.

Yet Con (25 Pervis St.), a long running, no frills establishment famous for Hainanese chicken— boiled chicken and fresh chopped cucumbers served with broth and a bowl of rice. I know boiled chicken doesn’t sound appetizing, but it was really flavorful, though some chili sauce didn’t hurt. This is the place for Hainanese chicken in Singapore.
