Our third or forurth visit, it has now become a bit of a traditon for us now......it is expensive...but it is a lovely old bar with character and history........you throw the peanut shells on the floor..it is a tradition as if you do in the streets you get fined We tend to go mid to late afternoon when the crowds... The old-fashioned fans in the bar are alone worth a visit. It doesn't hurt that it's the most famous bar in Asia, either!

First of all a cocktail is just a cocktail. I have to say it is very good. That is to be fair. Here is why not: I had to wait at least 45-60 minutes. I had to pay at least around 30 USD for a Sling (with the cover charges). I had to accept the deduction of a hot tea... More

The long bar reminded me more of a Saloon (picture lone star restaurants) than what I pictured in my mind. The drinks are ridiculously priced, so it's not a place to settle in for the night but it is a must do when in Singapore. We had a singapore sling for $26 and moved on. The drinks were delicious, but... More

Upon sitting down were offered a menus by a young waitress that left me stunned. She was trying to sell the menu! But in such a pushy way. Please allow me 5 mins said she. Whoo young lady, we are here, we want to read the menu ourselves, and will ask should we have a query. Then a mix up... More

Just left Raffles with a bad taste in my mouth. Figured I'd better have a world famous S'pore Sling while I'm here... probably never have the chance again. Guaranteed I'll never have one again! Over $30 for a warmish, weak, syrupy (is that a word?) little drink that was pre-made. Why not show a little pride in the history of... More

Staying at Raffles is probably prohibitive to most people as rooms are very expensive. However paying a visit to the Long Bar just has to be done - a little bit of Colonial Singapore that is very atmospheric!

Everything most of the other reviewers have said is true - overpriced tourist trap with indifferent staff and I think the throwing the peanut shells on the floor is just messy!! BUT you have to do it once just to say you have had a Singapore Sling there - and that's it.
