This isn't a bakery, despite the Boulangerie tag. It serves traditional French food, the kind of thing that's rare in Hong Kong outside fine dining establishments, so I suppose you'd expect the prices to be up a bit. It is very small with most tables...outside or on a mezzanine, although we managed to get a table on the ground floor as one of our party has difficulty with stairs. We opted for small plates rather than main courses which suited us better. The party at the next table, however, opted for sharing mains and their steak looked very good. A repeat visit may be in order, but as a resident of the area I wouldn't say this would ever be a go-to venue for a night out.More

I have been coming to Bistronomique for more than 5 years now, but probably no more. I had the 6-course gourmet menu which I found priced online at 488 but I got charged 688 hkd. clearly the menu I found had not been updated recently....My partner had Alaska crab cakes and the portion was very small with no impressive flavor. The lamb rack was also not strongly flavored and didn't impress. The sirloin steak was passable but for the meat dishes the vegetables were drastically overcooked. Inexcusable. I think they do fish dishes really well, and we should maybe have ordered that. A series of tapas-like dishes were served quickly and were very familiar from previous visits and acceptable. The waiters didn't ask what we thought about the food and showed no interest in conversation of any type. Some bread served with starters was plentiful and hot. Disappointing this time, truly.More

French cuisine is becoming increasingly elusive in Hong Kong, especially the authentic flavor. This is a popular option in Kennedy Town, the western end of Hong Kong Island. The waterfront view is lovely. And that's the only plus point I can think of. Food is...the standard French routine but taste is pretty bland. Frog leg is a better choice. Onion soup lacks the touch of wine. Onglet is nice looking but is indeed nothing remarkable. Creme brulee is a failure, with uneven sugar glaze that a spoon cannot break. Service is simply terrible. No one takes care of orders unless with repeated calls and gestures. We also saw chefs chatting loudly while preparing dishes. No wonder food is not prepared with heart. I am not sure if the clientele has a basic understanding of French cuisine, but Bistronomique is just a place with a French names and menu with French-pronouncing dishes. Perhaps this explains why the place was only one-third full in a weekend evening.More

Our first time to visit this restaurant. Wonderful location in Kennedy Town overlooking the harbour. We arrived just before sunset and had a nice table upstairs from which to admire the view. We ordered a simple meal - just a few starters to share but...all were beautifully presented and very tasty. We were also served some warm French bread which was delicious. Not at all cheap but a very pleasant evening.More

I came across with the Instagram of my friend and saw this restaurant. The food and environment look great and I decided to go to Sai Wan to give it a try. Environment and decoration The distance between tables are not close and you could...still enjoy a certain extent of privacy. Although the ceiling is not high enough, the restaurant is surrounded with a 180o sea view with window wall, which make the restaurant more spacious than it actually is. Special Compliment The sea horizon is snapped in your eyes, with blue sky and a bit of clouds. I believe no one would be tired of this view. In daytime, having lunch under the sunbathe makes your day. My friends and I stayed in the restaurant from 12- noon to 3ish and with no guilt as waiters would not show a bit of dissatisfaction on your long staying. Bravo! Food and Presentation In this regard, I have ordered a set lunch, with baby squid with chorizo and US chicken breast with tomato and cheese. Baby Squid – The taste is a bit salty, but the taste is well-balanced. Slightly fried chopped/minced chorizo as the seasonings of the dish, with the balsamic black vinegar on top makes the dish remarkable. US chicken breast – The presentation is really far less comparable to the taste. The chef slow cooked the chicken breast in order to keep the juice in the meat and avoid the possibility of over chewy. Cheese is melted inside the chicken breast. The combination is nice. However, the colour of the dish is somehow too pale. All in all, it is a dish with good taste and smell, yet dull. Conclusion Overall, the vibe is awesome, service is good and the food is surprisingly outstanding. Value-for-money wise as lunch, I will rate 8.5 out of 10.More

We were guests of some friends who have been here regularly. They chose the food based on their past experience and it was very good. As there was a small private party downstairs we were seated upstairs. Unfortunately for us there was a large group...of about 20 people seated at one long table and they got very boisterous as the evening wore on. The size of the room meant that it was very difficult to hear the people across the table. Once the big group had departed it became much more comfortable. The size of the portions was good, especially the paella. We had a fish cooked in salt which was really fresh and very meaty.More

Office lunch there after it moved to the current location. Probably only the name has been kept but not the chef. I had escargots as starter and it taseted same as what I bought from supermarket! All main courses are accompanied by the same side...dish! How can tomato zucchini goes with duck confit, steak, salmon and ox tail? Totally lack of heart in preparing food!More

This is well worth a visit, but be prepared for the noise - the seats are jammed together and if there are kids you may need ear plugs. A lot of seafood on the menu.

We were exploring Kennedy Town on a Saturday and stopped to eat lunch here. We were drawn in by the large crowd of people we could see inside. This restaurant has two floors. There were families and couples amongst the clientele. We ordered from the...set lunch menu. I ordered tomato soup and mushroom risotto. The tomato soup had good flavour and texture. The mushroom risotto was made with dried mushrooms. There were too many of them and the flavour was too strong.More

Everything my table ordered was excellent, from the artichoke heart salad to the daily special. Very fresh and delicious. I liked the seating arrangement and didn't feel cramped, as another reviewer commented. I thought it had a bright, light ambience, attracts small to large parties...and seems able to accommodate all. My only complaint was with our young waiter who didn't know the menu and told me the fish special only came with potatoes and was quite aggressive in trying to get me to order a veg side. I ordered something else as he was too pushy, but one of my companions did order the special and it came with lots of veg ! The waiter avoided our table thereafter, eventually apologizing at the end of the meal.More

Went there with colleagues, the staff is very friendly and made us spend a great moment. i am French and must say some of the dishes really reminded me of home (pate, brandade, chicken, the potatoes and veggies, the desserts) the restaurant itself is very...cosy but then perhaps a bit too dark.More

1,015.00 HKG for a quite dry paella (for 2), one, and only one, a glass of Chardonnay and a bottle of Badoit, has more the taste of the swindle than the one of the good French cooking among which this restaurant, property of a Chinese,...is made advertising. In brief, run away from this restaurant!More

The waiters are very nice and attentive. However, our steak were over-done and too chewy. And the music background is a bit too noisy
