My dad bought half a goose from this place (take away) - only to find that the leg was missing!!! He had asked if it would be ok to get a goose that was a bit less done/burnt, and the chef at the time must...have taken it upon himself to 'teach a lesson' to this 'picky' customer... So just from that experience, not only was customer service non existent, the value was terrible, not to mention the experience. Anyway, we will never go here again. Can only hope that karma does its thing. There are many other choices in the area. Would not recommend this company.More

Goose oily, not tender and juicy, skin not crispy. Vegetables in broth are unexpectedly extremely oily that I had to use a bowl of water to rinse some oil off before I put into my mouth. Service very poor with aged and blunt staff as...one can expect. Bill expensive. Place looks dirty. Overall Sham Tseng is not a place worth visiting at all. It has lost its shine.More

Inspite of all the hype, the roasted goose of this restaurant is nothing but ordinary to below average. The goose is oily and the skin is tough and not tasty. The price is high. Half of a roasted goose costs $290 plus 10% service charge....It is a complete waste of time, money and effort to travel from Hong Kong island to Sham Tseng to taste such a below average roasted goose. Two other roasted goose restaurants in Sham Tseng are equally unimpressive. At the time of my visit, there were no patrons in sight. One of the restaurants could not even show me any roasted goose. There are excellent roasted goose restsurants in Hong Kong island.More

Went here with a friend and his girlfriend as they wanted us to try the roast goose. We ordered a half goose for the four of us, along with half a dozen or so other dishes of meat, veg and rice. This really was a...feast: the goose was beautifully cooked, although getting it off the bones was not the easiest thing. The pork cooked two ways was wonderful. A beef dish that may not have been the one we ordered was unexpectedly delicious. The tea provided was pu erh: unfortunately, the leaves were not always replaced when we drank the pot dry, leading to some weakness in the taste. We tried our best to eat everything - but to no avail. We were completely full - happily so, with the bill for 4 hungry people coming in at under HK$800. Service is brusque - but what the hell?More

This restaurant is famous for its roasted geese. It worth its brand name. However, for services, don't expect too much. Other dishes are okay. It doesn't hurt to give it a try.

Among other things we ordered the roast pork and roast goose combo. This was quite an expensive dish but I wanted the goose, hubby wanted pork. When it came a few pieces of goose were laid on a pile of rice and they said they...had run out of roast pork so we were just getting 2 lumps and the rest was to be substituted with boiled chicken i.e. not what we ordered but it was a case of tough, they'd run out as it was after 2 p.m. Now the price wasn't listed on the bill but we expected to pay a lower price for such a substandard offering. Boiled chicken you can get anywhere and anyway the goose parts were pretty meh, certainly not crispy like along the road. When it came to payment they said we should have ordered the chicken and goose separately (if so why didn't they say this at the time instead of just pushing the rubbish plate of food) and because we ordered the combo we must pay the combo price, irrespective of what was on it. When we complained further they said fine they will knock the cost of the expensive tea. We paid, left and then worked out they'd lied and hadn't taken the tea off at all. Total tourist trap, living off a past good name and clearly there to rip off people who they think won't come back. Two other complainants in front of us complaining about portion size, set offerings were missing etc. The other restaurants along the road, especially the last one just before Lucky Deserts, are far better and we will go to them from now on.More

We took a long walk from our hotel to try this roasted goose because it was the nearest to our place and it wasn’t exactly worth the effort for us. We ordered the rice, which comes with salted egg, sausages, chicken and roasted goose. It...was value for money, taste is decent. We had takeaway (+HK$2). Dining in has 10% service charge. The staff serving us was rude, although our stay in Hong Kong has neutralized our feelings towards that. Would suggest to skip this unless you’re near the area, and visit other better reviewed roasted goose places on our behalf.More

Parked up and strolled in with our reservation. Big party so we'd be wanting 2 geese. And they were very good. Warm, woofberries and peanuts underneath. The star attraction delivered.

Sham Tseng is famous for its roast goose and Chan Kee did not let that reputation down. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered roast goose with fabulous crispy skin, the bbq pork, Chinese vegetables and noodles. All tasty and fresh. The roast goose...was done to perfection but it's so rich, I'd recommend getting a smaller portion unless you have a really big group. The bbq pork was sensational. The five of us eating agreed it was the best we had ever had. All in all we were happy with this meal, but it was on the more expensive side for local cuisine. Part of the experience was also getting to Sham Tseng. We caught the MTR to Tsuen Wan and a green mini bus (96M) across from the station to Sham Tseng. The bus trip took less then 15 minutes. To return we took another mini bus to Tsing Yi MTR station and then changed lines. This was a great adventure and the views were fantastic.More

Hard to found table after 7pm, and therefore if you eat with a small bill, you will ask to leave and give a table back to them to achieve the maximum turn over. Annoying don't want to go back.
