We ate here last month while staying at the Mt Zion Hotel nearby. It's very convenient to that locale. It is somewhat odd that it is located in a movie theater building, but the restaurant has beautiful views of the Old City walls. (If you are lucky enough to be outside in the indoor balcony, which we were) The service... More

Went to Jerusalem on a Friday night to meet guests visiting from abroad and were very happy to take them here. Wonderful area to see at night and the we were surprised by the original and tasty dishes. As a vegetarian I was especially delighted with the delicious Polenta dish topped with beet juice.

yam soup was great, and so was the schnitezel and the salmon steak. Nice surroundings. Service was very good. A bit pricy, but worth it.

The lavan restaurant is at the Cinematek's building, facing Jerusalem's walls. The scene is breathtaking and the food is very tasty and affordable. For a start we ordered Ceasar salad with chicken breast and got some tasty bread and garlicked-butter (dieting people beware). Then we ordered the Veal fillet and Wild mushroom risotto. They were very good. This restaurant is... More

If I had to recommend one restaurant in Jerusalem to tourists, this would be it, based mainly on the location and comfort factor. There seems to be something on the menu to please everyone- plenty of meat dishes, sandwiches, salads and pizza. Quality was above average. This isn’t somewhere that only serves meat or only serves dairy, so the choice... More

Went twice recently. One time they made us move from our table with a great view to the inside because of a 'private party' that never materialized. Not acceptable. Second time we reserved a table and they gave us a crap table next to the front. Not sure why we bothered to reserve. Food is good, wines and beer fine.... More

Food was very good, especially the goose drumstick with polenta...mmmmm. Dont go for the kebabs though. Difficult to find, down some stairs and in the theatre basement.

The location is very good, particularly if you get a window seat overlooking the Old City. The service is just OK. The food ranged from very good to very bad. The appetizer, made of beets, blue cheese and polenta was fantastic. My husband's sea bass meal was OK, but not outstanding. My reuben sandwich was terrible. It had far too... More

I love this restaurant. Placed near the old city with one of the best views in town, Lavan maintaining high level of food and service. The salmon tartar is dreamy, and one of the best tartar dishes I ever ate. Book a place in advance to ensure table with a view.

without having seen much of the rest, I am quite convinced that this must be one of the best places in jerusalem: excellent food in combination with excellent movies - I strongly encourage the opening of a hotel, for the future..
