Sometimes I wonder if after you become a worldwide hit, your quality of food goes down... Din tai feng is not one of them. Their soup dumplings pork and crab, as well as their beef noodle soups are still so well made like 15 years back when they were just known to the locals in xinyi district in taipei. As... More

You have to have the soup dumplings. Little pockets of joy! I also had pot stickers that were uniquely served stuck on a sheet of crunchy fried dumpling skin, stir fried green beans, and peanut noodles. I was by myself, so I was able to order 1/2 orders. One of the staff was wonderful in helping me order. Service was... More

This is the flagship and first Din Tai Fung, which is now an international chain. You have to take a number and wait outside, but line moves quickly as there are three floors of this restaurant and the service is very efficient. You must have the juicy dumplings. The place is fast and informal. Excellent food at a very good... More

We had visted Din Tai Fung in Singpaore and loved it; so on our first night in Taipei we made a special effort to go to the founding restaurant. Dating from 1958 and by the look of it with little change to the decor - formica tables and winding stairs - the original formula remains the same: queue up, order... More

I am a frequent visitor of my hometown Seattle area location so it was a special treat to visit the original. You order before you are seated and the restaurant is located on several floors of the building. Everything was delicious, as usual. The pork dumplings are a must and the spicy wantons are yummy as well. Apparently you can... More

Always an enchantment to come again in taipei and eat at DTFung. I find the crab dumplings always unbeatable. Coming from 'bangkok, i wish the branch in Thailand would be half as good as this one, as it isn t comparable in any way. and the service is sooo nice and efficient in Taiwan, what a treat! can t you... The original and yes, it does matter. Was fortunate to have a local friend call ahead, so there was a table ready for a party of 8. Interesting process of ordering before you are seated, ingenious for table turnover. You get seated, get drinks and almost immediately the food starts. Everything was so yummy!

I believe this is the original hole-in-the-wall Din Tai Fung. If somebody spends a little time to read the original New York Times article, then one will know that Din Tai Fung has taken huge liberty in the translation. The author had gone to 10 second line cities in the world, and out of each city he recommended one restaurant.... More

Based on reviews, wife and I decided we had see what was so special about the dumplings. We're glad we did. Expecting a long line, we arrived prior to the dinner crowd and had a very short wait. The hostess recommended a numer of specialties; she wasn't wrong. The wait staff was also extremely friendly and took an opportunity to... More

I've eaten in both Din Tai Fung Restaurants in Taipei and both times the food was simply delicious. They are indeed crowded places, as they should be, because I should imagine everyone wants a taste. So make sure you make a reservation in advance. I feel the need to underline, though, that the attraction here is the food, it's taste... More
