The food at Chez Caroline was a welcome change after eating an abundance of dahl baht and fried rice during a 5 day trek. The service provided by the owners of the restaurant however was the real highlight. They went above and beyond to ensure that we knew the right places to shop, have a massage and to try and... More

Excellent food in a pleasant garden setting. Popular with expats. A place to go when you tire of dal bhaat.

The surroundings: the old stables of a Rana Palace (the whole elegant complex is called Barbar Mahal) with excellent (if a tad pricey) shops, Chez Caroline is a great place to meet for business, have coffee, chat, or eat. For vistors to Kathmandu who want to do some shopping in somewhere that isn't Thamel (wonderful as it is) and grab... More

Set inside a restored rana palace Chez Caroline is one of the nicest places to eat in Kathmandu. It's a little pricier than other restaurants I've visited, but compared to what you'd pay for the same quality of food and ambience in Europe or the US it's pretty reasonable. To get to the restaurant you wander through tiny courtyards, passing... More

French bistro food in KTM! Stunning garden restaurant with fresh well prepared bistro style food. And one of the best lemon tarts I have had!

The service is excellet but the food is really bad. Was very disappointed. It is a good place to go and have coffee. If you are hungry, go somewhere else.

If I would spend a longer period in Kathmanu, this would be my sanctuary. The ambience, food and service was fantastic. The club sandwich is the best I have had ever. Their deserts are so tempting, you want them all. Had the pleassure of visiting twice during our stay in Nepal.

Chez Caroline is perhaps the nicest restaurant in Kathmandu. Set in the former royal stablehouse, the ambience is intimate and old-world, and the food is outstanding. It isn't cheap, but compared to what you would pay in Brussels or Vienna, it's a bargain. Come for a wonderful dinner, or visit in the afternoon for coffee and desserts. Be sure to... More
