We just visited for my mother-in-law's birthday. It's a nice atmosphere - quiet and reserved - and the food and service are always high-quality. We always love the appetizers (especially the tempura), the steaks, and the high-end fish specials. More

A bit on the pricy side, but not like big city fine ding costs. It would be the place I would take a date to, or parents for their aniversary. The food was Spectacular. More

Exactly as the title says, the food is awesome. For a nice date or an occasion, Aunt Maude's is the place to be. That being said, it's expensive for a college town. More

We just ate here on Jan. 26, 2012 and oh my gosh! I had never realized this place was here, and now I'll never forget it! Son & I had the steak sandwiches with mouth watering tender tasty steak, Maytag blue cheese & colelaw, what a combo for a sandwich BUT IT WORKS! YUM! Came with a basil pasta salad... More

After many trips to ISU in Ames, I finally got to eat at Aunt Maude's on Main St. We were there for dinner, which opens at 5:00 pm. They offer Bistro versions of about 1/2 dz of their entrees, so that smaller portion was just right for my sister and me. I had the grilled salmon and she had a... More

We lived in Ames in the 1970's when my son was in high school, and Aunt Maude's was a favorite then. Recently my son and I returned to Ames to take my grandson/his nephew, a freshman at Iowa State, out for dinner, and discovered that it was still in business--a long time for a college-town restaurant! It is once again... More

I reviewed this restaurant before, by that time the food did not impressed me too much. However, I came to Ames again and had to give it a chance, since the sitting outside was my favorite part of the place. The restaurant offers 5 choices of “small portions”, one of those is: Tequila chicken pasta. The portion is what you... More

Great ambiance. A timeless Ames restaurant. Impecible service. A robust menu with ever-changing specials. But if there's one thing I can't get enough of it's their Main Steet Chicken. Highly, highly recommended! Generous portions (and bistro/lunch size portions available if desired). Cheap? No. But if it's a fine meal you want, is $25-$50 really that hard to swallow? You can... Traveled to Ames on a business trip and had a great experience. The decor is very nice and not what one would expect from Ames. The food was good but I recommend to go for the steaks as opposed to the fish entrees. Two people in our group ordered the filet with fried onion strings on top and it looked... More

My husband and I are no stranger to an expensive resturaunt. We are definately willing to pay for quality, however $30 for a New York Strip is crazy. It was pretty good but definately not worth the price. The prime rib was very good but also overpriced. If you are going for lunch, Aunt Maudes is a great value. For dinner,... More
