If you want great hotdogs (or hamburger steaks) this place is excellent. However, I've gone there for years, and you have to know going in that the staff are not very friendly. They tend to act like they are doing customers a favor by serving them (at the ordering window).

Monroe's has great food and a great price! College kids always need a cheap meal and this is just the place! Even after graduating GSW in 2000, I come back to Americus just to eat at Monroe's! I now bring my kids to eat there!

Parked in front of Monroes to tour the Rylander Theater. Came out and saw their sign and decided to treat ourselves to a hotdog. Just a snack without any of the trimmings.

I have no idea why people go here! The hotdogs are bright pink, with no flavor. The restuarant needs a thorough cleaning and the service is incredibly rude. It is cheap, you can eat for less than $5. And I did hear that the grill cheese is edible. Will not be eating here again.

After hearing from a local that it was a great place, I was expecting something extra special....nothing was bad, but it was just OK to me.

I used to eat here a lot when I worked downtown, they had the best chili cheese fries and one time I went in there and asked for a chili cheese dog, they accidentally put slaw on it, the woman apologized profusely but I tried it anyway and found I like it so from there on out I started ordering... You don't come to Americus and not eat at Monroe's. The hotdogs and hamburger steaks are always so good. I have been eating here for years and years and years. Monroe's is everything that you want a hotdog place to be and more!

If you ever get lost in back woods GA somewhere south of Atlanta, East of Alabama, and in the middle of peanut country, stop on in to Monroe's for the "best dog bitten by man." The little red dogs with chili sauce in the classic hot dog diner atmosphere that feels like it has seen more than a quarter century... More

I have eaten at Monroe's on many visits to Americus. I like the chili dogs better than those at the Varsity in Atlanta and that is saying a lot. My wife thinks Monroe's slaw dogs are the best anywhere. It is convenient, inexpensive (with most hot dogs less than $1), and the counter staff is efficient. Don't let long lines... More
