With close to 200 reviews, I wondered what I could add, but I am providing my opinion anyway. The restaurant is fascinating!. One walks into a fish store. Behind the fish store is a large room with a bar and tables, at the end of this room is a wine storage room and through the wine room is another room... More

If you are looking for fresh fish, deliciously prepared this is THE place. There is a seafood market in the front - fresh, beautiful fish. As you go further back, you enter the bar area which has the most fabulous happy hour - the same wonderful food (but a more limited fare) and drinks at a fraction of the price... More

It’s a little outside of Georgetown and we had a hard time getting a taxi back to downtown, due to the location and rain. But it was well worth it, the food was absolutely delicious, the service excellent and it was the best meal we had during our stay in DC. We even found a very nice affordable California Chardonnay... My husband and I frequent Black Salt when we want a adult only evening of fantastic seafood! We have been here numerous times and have never been disappointed! Our favorite dessert is the banana creme pie, which is worth the caloric splurge :))

Unpretentious, but top quality fish thoughtfully prepared. Run jointly with a retail fishmonger, so all of the fish are selected by the restaurant, which also means some unusual choices and absolute freshness.

I love fresh seafood and a great restaurant is hard to find, but Black Salt was perfect. The fish was fresh, innovative and delicious. I had ivory salmon, which I've never had before, and loved it. The 3 other people I dined with also enjoyed the meal, service and overall experience. Aside from the ivory salmon, the scallops, tuna and... More

The staff was very professional and helpful. We needed some help with the unique types of fish - a number of kinds were totally unfamiliar to us. Great tasting, adequate portions with good wine choices. It is is easier to talk if one gets there around 6:30 PM; the noise level goes up rapidly after 7:30 PM.

Black Salt has been touted as the best seafood restaurant in DC. That tout is 100% correct. We had the 5 course tasting menu and each dish that came out was better than the previous. The service was great and the food was beyond amazing. I was a little disappointed sitting in the back-room as I like to people watch,... More
