Bistro Cacao is a unique place to have a memorable dinner. It is very intimate and you feel like you have your own table in a private setting. The food is original and excellent. Service is attentive, not too obsequious but helpful and knowledgeable. This place is great for a special occasion

All 3 of us agreed we had a really good meal here. Classic French sauces, well prepared fish, delicious dessert. The ambiance is slightly bordello-like, and the place a bit worn, but good service and overall good experience.

Bistro appears to be more a dinner place with the enticing boudoir-like ambiance. Nonetheless, the food was very good and the salad was nice and filling! After days of bingeing on mexican food and meats we had a nice fresh salad at Bistro Cacao. It was everything I want in a salad -- a good portion of protein, dressing which... More

Bistro Cacao has a series of small rooms with different types of seating. For our brunch reservation, we were seated in the room where some of the tables are separated by sheer red draping. We were seated at the window table, in overstuffed chairs, overlooking Massachusetts Ave. Outdoor patio seating is available, but weather was a bit too chilly for... More

We went here for my girlfriend's birthday, and while the menu isn't cheap, it was well worth it. The food was typical French fare, but very tasty. Great wine list, great onion soup, fantastic profiteroles, and i loved the scallops. Not that it was bad, but the spinach salad with blue cheese, was nothing special. Otherwise everything was great.

The food and service were absolutely outstanding! I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly and delicious. The salad was wonderful and we had a shrimp appetizer that was one of the best I've ever had. This restaurant is truly unique and wonderful. I highly recommend it, and I will definitely be back. Make a reservation to be sure to... More

My partner and I had lunch recently with a pair of clients. The first impression - the outside entry - is relatively unremarkable. It looks like all the other converted row houses in the area, many of which are also restaurants. Once you step inside, it has the look of an old bordello, with lots of red decor and fringed... More

After two nights in Washington trying to find somewhere to eat and only finding long queues on 7th St we consulted Tripadvisor and booked Bistro Cacao because it was close to our hotel on Capitol Hill. We were quickly shown to a secluded table between red curtains bad promptly served with a very nice bottle of French semillon Sauvignon Blanc... More

A good friend wanted to treat me to a good (expensive) meal for my birthday. After having trouble getting reservations at my first two choices, I landed on Bistro Cacao and made a reservation through Open Table (where I made a note that it was my birthday). So...it was nice being wished happy birthday by every employee who came to... More

Occasionally you stumble upon a great restaurant and today we did just that at Bistro Cacao. There was no better place to have Easter brunch than at Bistro Cacao. Every item in the pastry basket melts in your mouth, especially the croissant with Nutella spread. My main dish was the cinnamon french toast with chicken sausage. The french toast was... More
