We only went in for a coffee and a snack but we were treated as though we were there for a 5 course meal. Top notch service from the very friendly staff - THANKS
I just stopped by for a quick beer and a rest on my way back in from Akaroa - friendly staff - incredible view and a nice local brew.
I have avoided this hotel for many years and am delighted that we stopped there last weekend. It has had a makeover, gone is the beer sodden carpet, replaced with polished floors. A great pub menu (the beer battered F&C were fantastic) and a delightfuly extrovert french maitre de added to the experience!
Great place to stop on the way to Akaroa, nice and warm and cosy and we sat by the windows looking down at the view over the bays. didn't want to leave but had to get to Akaroa. Definitely worth a stop on the way.
Very good food and service by a French Guy (Frankie) all go to make a good evening and meal. Nothing was too much trouble. Pity the pub is well out of Akaroa and really in "no-mans land" - but still worth the drive there.
Excellent atmosphere, food and service especially the French guy who is so helpful. Love the live music on Saturday night.
We have been here several times and always love the food and atmosphere. The waiter, a friendly Frenchman, is very helpful and entertaining. Pizzas are great value for money and a good range if wine.
We stopped by for Sunday lunch. The burger and wood-fired pizza were incredible and the chips were cooked perfectly. And the views... oh, the views. The weather was perfect as we sat outside, looking down the valley and across the harbour to Akaroa. The interior is very well done. There was music playing at a very well chosen volume -... More
Fab views on a clear day makes the hilltop well worth spending some time having coffee or a lunch. The place has recently been renovated and under new management has a great vibe together with quirky staff and tasty eats. Communal table is an option on a busy night if you don't have a reservation - cool way to have... More
The Hilltop Tavern is a must - not only is it hard to pass up such a prime vantage point overlooking Akaroa harbour but the hospitality never fails too. Theme nights through the week, live bands on the weekend, wood fired pizza to die for (Barry's Bay is my fav) and service that puts a smile on your dial. A... More
