It is rare for us to go to the #1 rated restaurant in a place as they're often pretentious and consequently over-priced. Sabroso though is the exception to the rule. A single unit just off the main drag, Tutaneka Street, it is delightfully pretention-free and offers exceptionally good value. We had beef enchiladas and fish tacos followed by the Mexican... More

Booked a table for my husbands birthday. It was brilliant. Wonderful margarita's and excellent food, we shared a mixed platter to start and then had Enchiladas and Chimichurri Chicken. the Enchiladas were a little overtly subtle but the chicken was divine. Had the Mexican Chocolate Cup for dessert, YUM. Excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. So glad we found this little... More

Dear Reviewer, We’re afraid that our inability to meet and exceed your expectations may in part stem from some cultural confusion. You have compared Sabroso to el Condor – a pizzeria and pasta restaurant in New Plymouth. The food at Sabroso is prepared with a retro-rustic perspective to Latin American cuisine, reflective of the decades the owner spent growing up... More

We went to Sabroso based on TripAdvisor reviews, and glad we did! Lovely owner, small cosy place, nicely lit, understated, most of all the food was delicious! A good, tasty hearty meal. Chilli chocolate dessert is to die for!

Good yummy food with good service, not too over crowded, reasonable prices. You need to book as they were turning people away on the night

What a neat lil place this is! The room was fully packed when we went in and were told that it could take ages to be served. We chose an outdoor seating and even though the place wasfully jammed the nice lady was with us in few mins to take our order and back in few mins with our order!... More

Read the reviews and booked. We weren't dissappointed. We don't often have Mexican food and we really enjoyed the experience. Good atmosphere, buzzing with conversation. Great variety on the menu and we were spoilt for choice. Good food, huge portions and good service. Good advice about the sauces: flame thrower really took your head off - numbing the tounge!

We found Sabroso on TA reviews and decided to try it for ourselves. We have been to many Mexican restaurants and this would have to be our pick! The food was amazing! The restaurant was very clean and excellent service. Thank you for such a great experience Sabroso!!

We found this restaurant based on TA reviews and found it enjoyable and good value. The food was a mixture of 'typical' Mexican (ie what we are used to on Mexican menus outside Mexico) with Venezuelan dishes as well reflecting the owner's heritage. We enjoyed the cornmeal cakes and enchiladas plus slow roasted pork - big helpings for a reasonable... More

This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let it deter you. South American cuisine with a twist . Don't go pass the Rum soaked pineapple and Prawns was a taste sensation .The main eals are large so you could actually share . We ordered a taste plate for entree , highly recomend this option. The chef came... More
