Mekong Melbourne has good value for money. I enjoyed the broken rice combination and the pho and rice paper rolls were delicious as well, Definitely recommended but it can be extremely packed during lunch hour 1 - 1.45 pm. The restaurant may be small and crowded but don't let that put you off as the food is worth the money.

Ordered a beef special as well as chicken fillet pho. Both portions were big even though we had ordered small. Good meal to have on a cool day. Not exactly the cheapest around but situated in the middle of the city, it is still a bargain. Free hot tea is available on all tables. If one does not like the... More

Easy to find in the CBD. Great value for money, with generous portions. Both the chicken great and the beef combo pho were amazing! The pickled onion, bean sprouts, basil, and side sauces were fantastic. I can't wait to eat here again!

We love Vietnamese food. Mekong in Swanston Street (up Chinatown side) is a good restaurant to head for while in the city. The restaurant is not very nice to look at or be in, very basic and cramped, and consistently packed with people. But the food is good and hearty. A big bowl of hot delicious Beef Pho is AUD9.90,... Decided on Pho today as it's our favourite winter soup and we happened to be in the city. Both had Chicken Pho with rice noodle. Stock had a great taste & fresh. A couple of difference's to our usual Pho place in Springvale were the sliced onions on the table & the chilli in oil had a fishy taste. .I... More

Discovered this place while visiting Melbourne this weekend. Took me back to Vietnam with a hot bowl of beef pho and a Bia Ha Nôi. Regular size which was extremely generous was great value. Also ordered rice paper rolls which were tasty. The place is crowded but the food is great and fresh. Well worth a visit.

The Mekong is a long-established institution in central Melbourne. Its located in Swanston St not far from major shopping complexes and the bustling student precinct of RMIT University. During the daytime, at least, the place is very crowded with most people sharing tables with other customers. Big crowds in a city full of Vietnamese restaurants normally means that the food... More

the place is small and crowded but you cant ask for more with the price you pay for the nice Pho. the soup is good, and the taste is quite authentic. even in hong kong, its not easy to have original viet beef noodle like Mekong a good choice of asian food at Melbourne CBD if you are tired of... When you are in Melbourne and you feel like a warm soup after a night out on the town, or any time really, a Pho Vietnamese is going to hit the spot. This is my Melbourne comfort food place. This restaurant has laminex table tops, shared utensil holders, tea jugs that always need filling, tiled walls, a lovely steamy atmosphere... More

I had been there during my unidays 2009 with my friends. Visited this place on Feb 2013. The staff members were changed and soup dishes were half done. No one bothered to make us sit in a chair. I took my colleagues for a lunch and it was total embarsment and we cancelled most of the dishes after starters.. finished... More
