This place has quite a lot of history, and i thought it would be a nice change from all the other places in China Down. However, after eating there, i find the place is outdated and overrated! Service is non existent. I don't think I will be back any time soon. Although last time i walked past, the place seemed... More

Took our family for a special night out. Was disapointed with the restaurant. Only half the luminated sign outside was going. Carpet inside was worn and torn. Live lobster tank was empty and dirty. Very little inside to excited about. We were on a $150 voucher and pleaseed we didnt pay any more. Would definately be disapointed if we had... More

Mask of China won lots of awards in the 1990's and I was excited to go there. Sunday must be their off day because it was very quiet for lunch and not all items were available - even coffee. The scallops were supposedly a specialty but I wasn't even sure they were real - very uniform size and a pretty... More

Have been eating here for more than 20 years, and it has never disappointed. Delicate flavours, fresh ingredients, great menu. A little quiet and somewhat minimalist compared to the traditional Chinese restaurant on this strip....but if you're after a more sophisticated atmosphere - you will enjoy.

Entertained Chinese clients there, provides the perfect venue for this and the signature lamb chop is great.

The restaurant is in Chinatown and there are many nearby options., While we all like 90% of the food, it seemed too upscale for our needs. Only the Bean Curd was a poor choice of the food ordered.' Parking is challenging for tourists. We noted there were no Asian during our dinner who were guests. In my opinion this was... More

Came across this completely at random. Was very concerned as I went in as the decor was run down. The fish tanks were empty and it looked closed. The restauant was half full when the others nearby had queues. Then looked at the reviews and saw that this was an expensive place! But the food was spectacular. I had the... More

I recall making many trips there as a young man with my family and leaving everytime with the most amazing 'food experience'. Having been there last night, it was disappointing to see the 'run-down' appearance and general neglect prevalent on the place. The decor now appears dated, the carpets worn and filthy but the place still had great bones and potential.... More

Delicious food at the Mask of China in Melbourne's Chinatown district, but perhaps because of the price, the restaurant lacked atmosphere. It's in the upper price category, we spent $151 including a bottle of wine, starters and mains. The food is delicious though, served in perfectly sized portions, and perfectly timed spaces between. A real 'no hurry' feel to the... More
