I stayed at the Westin hotel and decided to eat in the restaurant. Unfortunately a mistake. Very average food and was extremely empty and lacking in atmosphere. Staff were acceptable but seemed bored. I couldn't recommend this restaurant which is unfortunate because it was once a very nice place to dine.

Greeting and service were good as was the choice of wine (Sam Miranda 2010 Arneis). The introductory bread was forgettably white and fluffy rather than ciabatta or pane di casa. Both entrees were good - a pleasant scallop on potato foam and a huge and enjoyable charcuterie plate. The risotto was poor; more than somewhat glutinous with almost raw broccoli;... More

We came to Allegro to have a family meal before the Christmas rush. We feasted on the options available to us and our favorites were the salt and pepper squid, the risotto and the steak with vegetables. As we could not decide on dessert we chose the three for $35 option. We ended up staying for nearly three hours and... More

This used to be my favourite "back stop" restaurant - whether for lunch with visiting family, a catch up with the girls, pre-Theatre dinner or just a treat for a small well behaved child. Our last visit was very disappointing. Staff were efficous rather than efficient, more interested in meeting a deadline than making guests comfortable (my husband was half... More

have eaten here a number of times, but never for lunch.Have to say it was an enjoyable experience. There was the choice of buffet or a la carte, which we had.The service and food was very good, and with a smooth jazz duet playing in the background,it certainly made Sunday lunch the more pleasurable.

We ate at Allegro 3 times when we stayed in the Westin Melbourne. First night was lovely, professional service, beautiful food, we enjoyed everything. Second night was a bit different story. Supervisor remembered us from the night before, (maybe we are good tipper too) and sat us down and took our drink order. I inquiry if the chef can make... More

A group of 7 family members had such an enjoyable meal last evening at Allegro. When we arrived something had happened to their online booking which had placed our booking for Saturday evening - definitely not what I'd booked - however, this was no deterrent for the staff who, very speedily rearranged tables for us to be seated more than... Allegro's is fast becoming a Melbourne favourite of ours. Elegant yet relaxed surroundings, spotlessly clean, very spacious restaurant. Exceptionally polite and genuinely helpful wait staff. The food was fresh and nicely prepared. highly recommend the Starwood Privilege program. This membership gives fantastic deals on hotels in the Starwood Chain (Westin, Sheraton, Meridien, Four Points, Luxury Collection), as well as terrific... More

We had their Lazy Sunday jazz lunch. They offered the children's menu for my son but he decided to have the adult menu (which was a good choice at half price). It was Platter Dining- shared selection for entree and mains with an indulgent buffet dessert island. Lovely food, nice surrounds but the acoustics could probably be improved because we... More

Such a nice great location overlooking Swanston Street, really well spaced restaurant in that there was no squeezing between tables etc. Food was fabulous and nice wine selection also. Only down side was the service staff. They seemed a little "Faulty Towers" in giving wrong meals to diners & having to recheck our orders a few times. We all eventually... More
