OMG! The meals were amazing! But firstly, this place is cosy to say the least. They have crammed as many tables as possible into a small space but this in no way detracts from the experience. You definitely feel as though you are sitting in...one of those little English Pubs. The staff are warm and friendly. The menu is your standard English pub menu with the expected roasts, Bangers and mash, Guiness Pie etc. Where they differ is that they do it well. There is a wide selection of beers on tap and a good selection of wines on offer too. My wife and I decided on the fish and roast of the day. The fish was Blue Grenadier with Hasselback potatoes and roast vegetables, which was a pleasant surprise as you normally get a salad. Wife said was amazing and by far the best pub meal she has had. I had the roast beef, and it was melt in the mouth good. It sat on a bed of roast pumpkin and parsnips with a huge Yorkshire pudding on the side. Best roast beef ever. The chef should be congratulated! Both meals were large and extremely good value.More
The food drinks and atmosphere here was really good. The roast pork and beef Guiness pie was really really good. We sat in the Dr Watson bar.
This pub is literally a bit of the UK in Melbourne - so great for winter! Good location, lovely service. Great wine list. Food was basic pub food, very generous serves. I would recommend it when you want something straightforward - not fancy, but hearty.
A reunion with my cousin had us meeting here, and what a lovely traditional English pub down in the basement off the busy drag in the CBD. Quaint with friendly bar staff, great good and even our vegan cousins found something tasty off the menu....The steak and Guinness pie was beautiful, as was the risotto. Highly recommend if you’re in the CBDMore
Only ordered something small. But both the Greek Salad as well as the vegetables were amazing and really tasty and far more than I had expected for such a reasonable price. I will definitely return to this place.
Restaurant was located downstairs. There was a good ambiance created by the themed pictures and English pub style decorations. Extensive menu with over 30 options ranging from Nachos to salads to pies, ribs, steaks, schnitzels, fish and chips etc. Basically good old pub style food....We had the pie of the day and a crunchy chicken salad and two glasses of wine. The dishes were not fancy but were tasty enough and came at a reasonable price. Staff were very friendly.More
Located on Collins Street downstairs from the road where phone reception is highly unlikely. Service was prompt and the food was delivered in reasonable time. Plenty of options for drinks and the food is a typical pub-style menu. Serves are reasonably sized without being too...big. Quality of the meal was better than expected.More
Had lunch here. Warm welcome from staff, great selection of beers on tap and a menu which is reasonably priced. I had the "pie of the day", wife had the roast. Both meals well presented and delicious. Highly recommend a visit.
this pub in the middle of Melbourne was a surprise to say the least Great ambiance, fantastic rang of different beer, Very friendly attentive staff, great food particularly the pies (Steak and Guinness). Great location just up from the main drag in the city centre
A group of 8 met here for lunch and sat downstairs, we throughly enjoyed our afternoon and had to leave as they wanted to set up for dinner. Great ambiance, staff, food and drinks, would certainly return and recommend to others.
We dropped in here for a drink before dinner. They have plenty of seating, and a great selection of beers on tap and wines by the glass (or bottle). I really enjoyed the Furphy’s that I ordered. Their daily food specials looked good as well...so we will likely be back to try the food.More
Stop in on an off chance and what a great surprise it was. The service was great, they had great wine and when the food come it was really taste and big portions!
Great meal.. well enjoyed, friendly Staff. Should have booked prior to get a seat downstairs (our own silly fault) as downstairs is like an Old English Pub feel, but still nice upstairs.
4 pm Saturday afternoon and wanted to catch last quarter AFL on Foxtel. Sherlock advertised out front to satisfy. Descended into a busy cauldron. Many eating meals (bit early?!) … prior to event perhaps. Ten crafty beers on tap. Enjoyed a cold bevvy near a...sporty screen.More
