One of those gorgeous little artisan bakeries that you feel thrilled to stumble upon! And will always make the effort to visit across town now that you know about it. Luxurious pastries to die for - very good coffee and real bread. You sit outside on little stools and feel you have died and gone to heaven - yes that... More

I will go a long way for a decent loaf, and in Melbourne you may need to! As it happens I live close by so am a regular visitor. The bread is all delicious, but they often dont have what I really like, even at 10 in the morning, and I find it tedious to have to ring ahead and... More

I've been making my weekend pilgramage for 11 years now, I think that says it is Australia's best bread and pastries without a doubt, unfortunately so many agree and he needs a bigger shop and ovens, the queues can be quite long and the espresso machine doesn't help!! Time for new premises!! I still love it!! More

Created by true artisans. Bread is very similar to the homemade woodfired bread my grandmother used to make in Sicily. Just wonderful. More

Wow we were so impressed with this bakery that we rated it as one of our best eating experiences while in Melbourne. We had yummy home made soup and pies followed by fantastic cakes and vanilla slice. Then we purchased meringues and cookies to take away with us. The meringue literally melts in your mouth, it was the best. Do... More

I'm a local so I'm spoiled for having this amazing bakery in Melbourne, they make bread worth lining up for and you will find that there generally is a bit of a queue to make a purchase. The breads are incredible, the sort of beautiful, organic perfection that doesn't even need butter, it truly is that good. My personal favourite... More

Baker D. Chirico is a little bakery on Fitzroy Street that makes the most amazing sourdough bread. Try the Pana di Casa it is sensational bread, dense and tasty. They also have sweets like Lemon Brulee Tart which is really lovely. We missed out on the famous donuts which we were told sell out very quickly so be sure to... More
