I wasn't expecting much the first time I came here in October of 2011. Any locals will agree, Moonah isn't exactly a hub of cultural delights and yummy food. Kawasemi is quite difficult to review, as their main dishes are mostly revolting and tasteless... but their desserts are some of the best I've ever eaten. I've been there eight times... More

Booked for 6pm, entrees arrived promptly but mains had to wait for over an hour. When Bento meals arrived, most of the portions were cold, ... This restaurant can't cope with large numbers of guests. Would give it another go on a quiet day unless I just want to eat cold dishes.

This is a great little Japanese Tea House tucked away in Dickensons Arcade, Moonah. Atmospheric decor and a quiet dining experience. Quality Japanese dining at reasonalble prices. Bento box recommended for good value. Can get busy at lunchtime but part of the Japanese experience is to slow down and enjoy your food. It's not a lunchtime grab and run place.... More

One of the places I frequent. Nice sushi. I have not been disappointed yet, but a little let down today (1 feb 2013) when my lunch bento had left over deep friend chicken. Sushi was fresh, sashimi was fresh.

Restaurant layout very basic. Waited for 1 hour before food was served. Good for work casual lunch. Good for people with budget issue. Miso soup not worth $2.80.

Hi, It has great food and great prices to match. The only thing is big groups while very welcome have a tendency to stretch the kitchen and some of our food was cold. They are lovely people however and it is BYO with no extra cost for cork-age that we could see =)

I had a surprisingly wonderful meal last night at Kawasemi and will definitely go back again. I was with a group of four girls. For entree we had tempura vegetables, a chicken and cucumber dish, a tofu dish (I wish I could remember the name of this one as it was divine - almost like battered tofu) and the eggplant... More

I wonder if the chef has changed recently, because despite a full house, the food arrived a lot faster than usual. The bento box set (soup, salad, bento) is exceptional value. Bento included sashimi, nigiri, meatball, chicken, tempura pieces. Up there with anything you would get in a small place in the backstreets of Tokyo, except no pickles or seaweed... More

Booking a table beforehand is a good idea for it was crowded, but big crowd also lead to the fact that we had to wait for 45mins till our food arrived. Fresh ingredient, exceptional service..only the waiting part was desecrating.
