La guillotine is a good choice for a pleasant, unpretentious meal. The omelettes are the speciality here and are always very enjoyable. We started with a pate and an onion soup which were also very pleasant but a bit over-priced. The atmosphere is agreeably quiet and our service was friendly and efficient. On the negative side, the wine list has... More

What did we like ???? Everything about this restaurant oozes class and refinement. It is always a beautiful meal and generally excellent service. Our waitress was very cold and off-hand to start off but warmed up eventually. It was a VERY quiet night in this restaurant. Would happily go again.

Staying at the Merton apartments and decided to walk up the street for lunch, Just about next door was the La Guillotine, decided to walk no further. What a great lunch we had, not many people there but the staff looked after us really well. I had the fish of the day, jus absolutely superb. My wife, the lamb cutlets,... More

We had dinner at La Guillotine a few nights ago prior to seeing a concert at the Entertainment Centre (tip: if going to the entertainment centre, park in the Cinema car park in Kent St, 50m away from La Guillotine and eat in Kent St - it's only a 5 minute walk to the venue afterwards). We were pleased with... More

Tonight was the first time in my life that I refused to pay for a meal. I ordered the veal with spicy mango salsa and jasmine rice, it was dry tasteless crap that I just could not eat. I asked for some type of sauce but it was so bad there was no salvaging it. My wife had chicken and... More

I had dinner at La Guillotine last night and was very impressed. I chose a table near the open side of the restaurnt elevated above the sidewalk level. The waiter provided ample bread and steered me toward a French white beer I had never had. Great choice! The food was excellent and the service was fast and friendly. I'll probably... More

I went with a group of friends as I've heard of the famous omelettes. Everything that we had was good, it's not cheap but it's not too outrageous either - dining in Sydney is generally expensive, especially in the city. Nice, friendly staff. The only disappointment? They have Crepe Suzette on the menu and it hasn't been available the two... More

Cannot say strongly enough to avoid this restaurant. The food started out with very ordinary entrées - extremely overpriced for what they deliver - just ordinary bread with patte. Snails were tiny and over dressed. Really went downhill with the mains. Steak was dry and of the quality you would expect at a pub. The fish was flavourless, dry and... More

It was quite late on a Friday night of the long weekend but the lovely waiter still let our table of 4 come in and order a late dinner. Three of us had steaks - Chateaubriand and Torneado style, the fourth had a lobster and prawn cream crepe. All very satisfactory, side salads were a but ho-hum.
