OMG, Messina is some pretty damn good ice cream!!! I wish my cone would never finish or that I tried each flavor they had there. I'm Brazilian and on my first visit (there will definitely be others) they had a "caipirinha" (Brazilian drink) gelato, made with real Brazilian "cachaça" (Brazilian spirit). The price is incredible, considering that on the convenience...

So this place has the best ice cream ever, and some of the most imaginative flavours I've ever seen: like Christmas stuffing - sage/apple/spices/macadamias - just like what might go into the turkey! However, I prefer the classics: the best vanilla, and there is a large range of chocolates for the chocoholics amongst us.However, my definite favourite was the salted caramel!...

Cue up. Don't feel pressured to make a rushed decision. The staff are happy for you to sample. I wish I was eating some right now!
I thought I had the best ice creams back in Italy where I come from, but I was wrong! Gelato Messina is my N.1 now, and I believe it is very, very hard to beat!
Usually packed with a long queue, the gelato is well worth the wait. Yummy variety of flavours. Also some of the most beautiful gelato cakes made with some of their more popular flavour combinations. Bring cash - they don't accept cards which makes it a bit annoying as their cakes are around the 40-55 dollar mark.
I am a die-hard ice cream fan and hater of gelato but Messina's is damn good!! They have so many unusual flavours and specials that pretty much change daily. Portion sizes are average. I recommend purchasing a tub and splitting it with friends. It's worth the trek through Surry Hills to find this gem. You'll know when you arrive too...

When in Sydney Messina is a must. The most amazing Jaffa ever and the guys even packed some to take back to melbourne for my son. The smile on his face was priceless. Thanks Messina
I was lucky enough to see a lot of people strolling into a cafe & walking out with icecream on my first evening at Sydney. My foodie antenna went up & I was sure I was coming back after dinner to try it out. I did go back to Gelato Messina (Darlinghurst, Victoria Street) & had the yummiest passionfruit sorbet...
