A bit pretentious and overpriced but had a good time. Was there for a birthday which went without a hitch. The food was tasty but not really anything to write home about. Seems to be aimed at the "Gastro set" who are willing to pay anything for regional/specialities such as locally smoked meats. Was a nice drive out but would... More

After a first time visit to Poacher's Pantry on Sunday I will definitely be returning soon! I enjoyed a leisurely lunch with girlfriends and was impressed with the food and service. The restaurant was already packed when we arrived so bookings are essential. We had the choice of indoor or outdoor seating but as it was a chilly Canberra day... More

Great food but very expensive and the service was terrible. Had to ask to be served every time. Nice location and if the staff were better trained it could be a great experience and you would not mind the price.

Wow! Who would have thought such a gourmet restaurant existed out in the scrub! After driving past the paddocks of sheep, there in the middle of nowhere was this collection of farm building housing a smokehouse shop and restaurant. Saturday 12.00 -it was buzzing , crowded with a live band! Lucky they found us a table, as they said it... More

Just 25 kms out of the city, down a country lane is the Poacher's Pantry. An idyllic setting in the garden, iceburg roses abound. For lunch, we shared a meat platter, cheese platter and a bottle of pinot noir. Doesn't get much better than that. The meat platter consisted of various cured and smoked meats that are the core of... We were recommended this restaurant for lunch by a friend. A nice setting however the food choices were very over priced and of average quality. We got the meat platter for 36 dollars and some bread and drinks for two people. It was supposed to come with a range of pickled vegetables which consisted of three small leafs of lettuce,... More

This is a prime (near) Canberra lunch / dinner spot. The deli sells a wide range of smoked meats and some acceptable wine. Meat and cheese platters to share offer good value. The menu is not extensive, but is well presented and executed in an authentic Australian bush setting

We drove out here for lunch on a cool summer day after hearing good reviews from many friends.I would have given this 3.5 had I the option. The food was fairly good but not really a stand out for me. The menu was a bit strange for the season for instance there was a steaming hot rabbit pie which would... More

We were being told about this place by one of our friend and we decided to have brunch at this place on Saturday. The place had big nice outdoor setting but I think it is better if you book it early as it is bit of drive if you live in south side. Food and coffee was good. There was a... More

Visited the shop nothing else open on a Tuesday. Wold love to try out the cafe in autumn or spring. Smoked goods we bought ate delicious!
