Food is wonderful. Leaf tea served in china teapots, cups and saucers. In winter there is a real fire in main room. Staff very friendly. Not suitable for wheelchairs as you have to go upstairs to restaurant

We've been visiting Byways for years. Also excellent food and service at a good price with a real comfy Derbyshire feel to the place. My photo is the breakfast shot being used as the official photo at the moment. If you go to Bakewell you MUST try Byways. Just across from the bank up some stairs.

Extensive range of loose leaf teas, delicious Bakewell tart and custard, friendly staff - everything you want in a good cafe really. I would definitely go again.

Small, like your granny opened a cafe. Good simple cafe. Order a toasted cheese sandwich and a pot of tea, that's the kind of place it is.

What a lovely place. It's full of character and its food is so fresh. Pop in if you get chance. Not expensive. Staff very nice and polite. They even have a gluten free range.

We have been here several times when in Bakewell. It's not easily seen from the street and is just a doorway with some stsrs leading up to the the actual cafe. Our most recent trip was New Year. I had a local bacon and egg sandwich on really fresh brown bread, and my husband had a bacon on sausage on... More

What a lovely little find, just the sort of place you expect from a historic market town like bakewell. There were a group of seven of us which wasn't a problem as there was plenty of larger tables, which makes a refreshing change. We had a range of food from fish and chips, rarebits, pies and sandwiches. All were top... More

Me and my older brother only had 15 minutes to spare before our bus came and so we decided to have a quick hot chocolate at Byways. The interior was very clean and quite posh, very 18th century! The staff were friendly, quick and professional and served us two delicious hot chocolates. We would definitely go again and hopefully we... More

This venue has a few tea rooms within it and therefore has the capcity to house larger groups. They welcome walkers. The rooms date back to the 16th century and still hold their charm. I had a delicious coffee and walnut cake, along with a pot of earl grey tea. The room I chose has an open fire. Very cosy... More
