We made a trip to this little town just to have dinner of their soup and weren't disappointed! The soup was wonderful and the bread was delicious. I saw others spreading the 3 flavored condiments on their bread so I asked the waitress and she told me 1) skyr with dill 2) tomato tapenade 3) brown sugar and garlic. all... More

Chef Robert of Fjorubordid restaurant cooked for us as part of an Inspired by Iceland promotion, seriously delicious. The man knows his seafood. Lobster soup, cucumber and dill salad, Icelandic lamb, baked Icelandic lobster....everything we tried was well executed and elegantly presented. I have to say that the appearance of the restaurant exterior is deceptive, it is unassuming, and a... More

Had Lobster Soup at the end of a Glacier Walk Tour. It was a great way to end the day. More

We stopped here for dinner on our northern lights tour. We never expected such a high quality succulent soup. It was served in a tureen for two with the lobster (langoustine) cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is charming also. More

We went here as part of a pre-paid glacier walk/northern lights tour through Icelandair/Iceland Mountain Guides. We weren't expecting too much as a pre-set, pre-paid meal, but we were pleasantly surprised. We found the lobster (langoustine) soup quite flavourful, and we really enjoyed the breads with the different sauces/dips. The service was quite quick, considering they were serving our group... the menu here is lagoustine, a large, commercially important prawn. the Brits will understand it; but to the Americans....don't imagine a maine-type lobster. the soup is a slightly thin cream broth with pieces of the shrimp in it. everyone with us (close to a dozen people) said the soup was good. there was also bread with several things to smear... The restaurant may not look like much on the outside but god, do they make divine lobster. Look no further on the menu then simply the lobster or the lobstersoup. These dishes make you want.. More lobster.. And yes tou can make a decent meal out of just lobstersoup. It's most definatly worth the drive to the middle of nowhere.. More

We had heared about this place and it was a relatively small detour, so we checked it out and although it was not the best lobster we ever had and considering the small size of icelandic lobster tails we were happy with this tasty meal. On a cloudy day, we wouldn't, however, drive 40 km from Reykjavik to get there... More

My husband and I shared a wonderful lunch, a pot of the sweetest lobster tails (about 24, each the size of a large gamba shrimp, but richer in flavor) cooked in garlic butter and parsley, served with big lemons.. Pretty sure this was the BEST meal of our entire 12 day trip, and we ate some wonderful seafood... (The view... More

... and if they do, then for the better ;-) We've had dinner in the Við Fjöruborðið already once before during our roundtrip in 2005. Returning 6 years later with friends, we were extremely happy to find out that 1. the restaurant still existed and 2. the quality of food as well as the friendliness and professionalism of the staff...
