Andrea, the owner, went out of his way to welcome us to Mamma Elvira. The appetizers (Aperi Tapas) and the puccia (big sandwich typical of Lecce stuffed with various ingredients) were top shelf. Lecce is pretty old school. It has your usual great italian coffee shops and specialty stores (wine, pasta and especially olive oil, the region's pride). I would recommend you to stop by Mamma Elvira while you are visiting Lecce. It's just beside The "Basilica of Santa Croce". You can taste a wide range of local wines and beers from Puglia.
