Left a little disappointed after our Lasagne tasted like a microwave version, not like a chef cooked or home cooked meal. Other than the food, the pub is charming and so are the staff and proprietors. There was a good variety of beers and they tasted well kept. More

Called in on a whim early on Bank holiday Monday evening to be greeted by a smiling welcome and a friendly chat. The menu and specials gave a great choice but whatever you go for be sure to get a bowl of excellent chips. We'll definitely be back after a lovely filling meal. More

Decided to give it a try after reading previous reviews on tripadvisor and we also live local. Struggled to make a choose from the menu or specials board as thought it was very limited. Decided on chooses after discussion with host, but when food arrived it was not as described. I had asked if the chicken in the special chicken... More

Met up with family in this little village pub. Great food and very friendly service with olives and crisps on arrival. Child friendly and catered for a one year-old very well. Definitely will return. More

We visited twice during our stay at nearby Cotherstone. Both meals were excellent - lots of local produce imaginatively used in a range of dishes. The worst part was choosing, in the end my husband and I shared our selections. Neither of us were disappointed. The lovely coal fire and traditional local ales were great - I could have stayed... We have visited the George and Dragon on numerous occasions and each time we are greeted by Sarah, who is warm welcoming and very attentive to all her customers. The menu is fabulous and our treat is going for Sunday lunch (with the children who are looked after brilliantly aswell!) All the food is locally sourced and cooked fresh so... More

Under new owners, the G&D had been a 'ye olde' pub, complete with blazing fire, tired decoration, a dart-board, pool-table, seats-around-the-wall and bar-and-stools. No more: a sort of bistro now, with round table for all; no standing room. Food: OK-ish; drinks: a bit pricey; atmosphere: lost. The locals sought to support it, but they lost steam and largely defected to... More
