A lovely lovely four course meal, with a 'land and sea' platter to share to begin with, followed by a seafood starter, a kirsch sorbet cleanser, and then fish for the main. This was finished with sticky toffee pudding and the most divine sauce I've ever tasted, along with liquorice ice-cream. Sounds a strange combination but it worked beautifully. The... More

The Good - A warm welcome by friendly staff and what turned out to be a three course meal for two plus a bottle of French Shiraz for under Fifty Pounds , this being possible because of a birthday invitation offer of a free meal ( it appears all customers are offered this in exchange for their date of birth... We ate at this lovely restaraunt on Wednesday 30th November 11. The service was freindly and efficient. The food was cooked and presented without fault. The place was packed out and so I would recommend booking in advance as we had done. More

This is a really good restaurant, small and friendly with wonderfully cooked food. Try their twice cooked beef - it's to die for! More

I took my partner away for a couple of days for his birthday. For his birthday dinner I booked into the Riverside on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews. We were staying at the nearby Forresters Hotel and had an exceptional meal there on our first night so I was expecting even greater things from this restaurant. The service was... More

We chose the Riverside because of the excellent reviews from this website (which can sometimes make you a little suspicious!). Very welcoming, with smiling staff. We had smoked mackarel and a mushroom starter for me, but prior to this we were brought complementary flat bread with 2 dips, delicious, but caution! don't fill yourself up as the main portions are... Only one vegetarian maincourse on the menu. Was offered some oriental noodles with haloumi ( ok cypress cheese meets japanese noodles) -these came slathered in shop bought sweet chili sauce -not the fine dining experience i was expecting, and not good value at 15 pounds. Dessert was an overcooked creme brulee with a miniscule amount of 'brulee'. Very disappointed though... More

This was our first visit to The Riverside and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was full, which is always a good sign mid week. There was a boistrous table nearby and we were offered an alternative table, which was fine All three courses were top class, with the twice cooked beef the highlight. We were pleasantly surprised to find... More
