On Saturday we went all the way to Brokenhurst to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday and as our son is at University in Southampton we thought it would be nice to have cream tea at the Thatched Cottage in the afternoon. We drove all the way from Torquay for this special cream tea just to find out that the restaurant... More

This is a beautiful thached cottage and on entering there are beams, chandeliers and it is beautifully decorated, in the middle is a lovely table with the most gorgeous looking cakes. We both had the cream tea which is £6 for 3 warm baby scones per person, clotted cream and jam and a pot of tea. The crockery used is... More

My boyfriend and i visited here for afternoon tea and we both came out with different opinions. My initial impression was that it was very dark and in my opinion could do with a bit of a refurb. In my opinion it wasnt as cosy and welcoming as it looks on the outside. Our waitress was very polite and offered... More

Following a walk on the snowy forrest, my girlfriend's eye was drawn by the sign outside a lovely looking thatched cottage which read "tea and coffee haven". As it was a Sunday lunchtime, we went in expecting to find a buzzing establishment but walked into a deserted restaurant. We tried to sneak back out again before we were spotted, but... More

oh thank you for your feed back, we especially the waitress on her first day at work found your comments not very encouraging. Understandably she was a little nervous and had forgotten the freshly made cakes on hand, but took great care to make you a hot chocolate with milk £ 2.50, pot of loose leaf tea £ 3.- served... More

Lovely cottage, warm cosy dining room. Service was excellent and the three of us enjoyed freshly cooked starters like pigeon breast and new forest mushroom pancake, followed by seafood trio and pork loin. These followed by two mouth watering deserts for those not watching their waists! :-) This meal for 3, with a bottle of house wine cost us £90... More

This is set in a lovely thatched cottage. It is very quaint and feels very special, like it is a private secret restaurant. We visited the New Forest In November so it was out of season. I called to book a table and was told that they had decided not to open that evening because of lack of bookings. We... More

My husband and I dined at the Thatched Cottage on a Saturday evening. When walking in, the restaurant already had two separate couples seated, one couple had finished and was about to leave. They were handed the bill and the look of surprise on the gentleman's face (having now experienced the restaurant myself, it was obvious disappointment at the price... More

We love the cream tea at The Thatched Cottage, the cuteness factor of teeny scones and quaint, jumbled crockery means we can always bribe reluctant children with a visit here. Although child friendly it's a proper grown up place, with a faded, elegant un-English charm inside. There is a huge selection of teas to choose from and the dinner menus... More

Was attracted to this place by the look from the outsise and wasnt disappointed on the inside. Very old and quaint inside with great selections of tea and coffees. Cakes were marvellous. Low ceilings, wooden furniture and very clean crockery and cutlery. A delight to spend an hour relaxing.

I have eaten here many times and the food is ALWAYS superb. I enjoy "Fine Dining" and Thatched Cottage is equal to some of the top names in the area. Menu always interesting - some unusual items, too. Staff are very pleasant and courteous. Very highly recommended.
