We thought this was the best fish and chips we have had for a long time. We have had this meal at the seaside and in Yorkshire many times but found these the best. They were freshly cooked to order - cod - and were very large. We thought it was good value. It was clean and the staff were... More

Saturday night landing at Southampton Airport, exhausted for 10 hours on the road, nearly home, hungry, tired...... Saved by the Rainbow! Large haddock and small chips - with outrageous abetting of my wife steeling my chips by the friendly chap behind the bar - back into the car, grease on the steering wheel and a totally satisfied me!

Lovely clean and enticing chip shop with a happy smiley guy to take your order. Quick service, good value for money and lovely paper bag for the chips, non of these polystyrene trays! Good location for on your way to or from the pubs!

We rocked up as they were just about to close up one Saturday night. The staff were pleasant and the place was clean. This place is only a takeaway so there is not seating but there are a few old cement seats in front of the Honda dealership outside. The food was good but nothing special and a little expensive... we decided we just wanted good old fish and chips for our tea during our ad hock overnight stay in Brockenhurst. We were delighted to find the Rainbow, as weren't sure if the village was too small to have its' own chippy. We had fish and chips, sausage and chips, curry sauce, mushy peas and a buttered bread roll. The... More

Have been visiting for some years now (40 mile round journey) - fish & chips lovely, location excellent; pick up food in the car and within 1 min can be sat in the open forest enjoying beautiful views - can't beat eating fish & chips in the open air! Donkeys and ponies often found wandering in the vicinity and can... More

Camping nearby in the New Forest and just felt like an easy supper. Not disappointed, quality of the haddock was excellent and service friendly and a nice touch of humour/banter with my girlfriend and her love of picked onions!!

On Monday we visited the Rainbow Fish Bar. We asked for two lightly battered fish with chips and they were superb, On Thursday evening we visited again and asked for the same, unfortunately the fish was not as lightly battered and the fish itself was much drier, nothing like the first time. The man who was cooking the fish was... More

We recently ate at Rick Stein's fish & chip shop in Padstow and although very nice (and very pricey) Rainbow Fish bar is a close rival. The haddock and chips we had this evening were delicious even if they aren't cooked in goose fat. It was a huge piece of fish, lovely and fresh and tasted delightful. Even better eating... More
