When in Norway, do as the Norwegians do and have a bit of whale......couldn't eat a whole one though. Found Jarlen Restaurant from a web search and the previous reviews seemed OK. Akebergveien may be difficult for a foreigner to find. It is located next to Oslo's main prison and next to one of the main mosques. Public transport will require a walk to reach there. A nice stroll in the old town of Oslo led us by the prison and into the Jarlen Restaurant. Its a small place, some local clientel and art for sale on the wall. Simple, but well made. Jarlen restaurant AS is located outside the prison, the place is very simple, but the food is excellent, good quantity and good price compared to other expensive restaurants in Oslo! Good table service and speed in preparing the meal, there is a Norwegian menu but the friendly staff translates you without problems.
