This restaurant serves a very good wienerschnitzel and soup. There are two small rooms for customers, one is for smokers but not well separate from the other so that the bad smell of smoke is everywhere. In general I had a good dinner. The waiter has esplicitly pointed the tip was not included so that we were forced to give... More

Situated in a quiet side street this pub with restaurant at the rear is a really authentic example of Viennese cooking. You go through the smoky bar to the rear and the tables are tightly packed but you're there for the food not the romance! The Schnitzel wasn't just the usual greasy dish but was stuffed with cheese and mushrooms... More

This cafe/bistro was recommended by the hotel management during our stay in Vienna. Normally, we had no plan to go there as we had too tight schedule but you never know what could happened while roaming throught Vienna... and we just passed by this place. I remembered recommendationes and we went in for a cup of coffee. At the same... More

Spent four nights in Vienna, ate here twice, came across it by chance, went in for a drink and ended up dining here twice. If you are looking for authenticity this is up there, if you dont like smoke, there is a non smoking section, smokers can dine near the small bar if they wish. We dined in non-smoking area,... More

This is a small restaurant, more like a tavern. It is divided in smoking and non-smoking areas and it is a cozy place to have a traditional dinner Viennese style. We ordered meat soup and two kinds of schnitzel, which was the best we had in Vienna. Really thin and juicy, not greasy, with a fresh, sweet but spicy flavor.... More

We were just walking around the streets near our apartment during a week stay in Vienna, and we stumbled across this cute restaurant. We saw the tripadvisor ratings on the window and checked the prices, and decided we would have to come back! We went back last night and were very happy with our choice. I ordered a ham and... More

We walked past the restaurant one night and were determined to come back to try it. The waitress, Clarissa, was so nice and helpful. The food was Austrian and very well prepared. Between the four of us, we had the wiener Schnitzel and it was not tough at all--very tender, pasta with ham and cheese, and the chicken special with... More

We have visited "Beim Czaak" several times and were always completely satisfied ordering items from the A la Carte menu, except during our last visit when we ordered the "Daily Special" which was Schweinsbraten, rather on the tough side - but despite this one setback we will be back. As a Nonsmoker we have to walk through the Smoker area,... More

Interesting restaurant, felt like a local place. Almost everyone smoking, even the bar staff are chain smoking, during the day too as we popped in for a beer! Food is typical Austrian, but loaded with salt and heavy on the carbs. Schnitzel was ok but lamb was very tough. Everyone smoking throughout their meals, could not wait to get out... More

Recommended in Lonely Planet and at least half the guests (including embarassingly us) had the book on display. Probably grown rather complascent on the back of that. Lamb rather over cooked, service aloof, nice dessert though.
