This small coffee bar serves large, fantastic breakfasts. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.
For our last day in Reykjavik, my girlfriend and i hunted down this spot after hearing a description. Grai Kotturinn is a super cool little breakfast nook that feels more like a library than a breakfast joint, and that's a good thing. the food was great as was the service, and the atmosphere of being surrounded by books is really... Woke up looking for a place to enjoy a relaxing brunch, was advised to look up this place as they do amazing pancakes. I had 'The Truck' which costed ISK2450, came with bacon, toast, sunny side up eggs and pancake, very good portion size and the pancake was really good. The place was filled with old books and was cozy.
Trip advisor reviewers missed the mark on this one. We made this mistake of going here for breakfast, where we paid about 2500 ISK for the truck - which is what most people suggested getting. We went for breakfast and had pancakes 2 small portions ( for our kids) and 2 regular. The regular portion was 3 huge thick 'scotch' pancakes and quite few rashers of streaky bacon. We only managed one and a half pancakes each! So overall huge portions but bill also huge. It came to over 8.000 isk! Recommend small portion of... More
Quite a cozy place but takes some effort to find it. The waitress couldn't care much when I was there but it was in the early morning and I was very happy to find a place that would actually serve up a decent dish. The atmosphere is really the big plus for this small and cozy place.
This is just a great little place, very snug and cosy. There is a guidebook we read about pancakes and we were not disappointed. Lovely, fresh and huge. Just what we needed on a cold day. And the guy who runs it (or at least works there) was really helpful and friendly and offered us some great tourist type tips... More
This is my favorite place to do anything in Reykjavik. Once you actually locate this low key, garden level cafe / breakfast heaven, you will be greeted by a grey cat's smirk on the door (hence the name). If you don't fall in love when you enter, you need to leave immediately and find another place to eat. Thoughtfully lit... More
