We only had one other meal of arctic char that was even equal to this reasonable lunch at Gamil Bakkur (which is how I thought the restaurant was spelled), and that was at the 3 Frakkur in Reykjavik (a restaurant which is quite expensive). This food was simple, fresh and really delicious. The restaurant (being on the dock) serves a...

My wife and I ate there two nights in a row, great fish at reasonable prices.

Great. I had the Icelandic fish stew, which turned out to be not a soupy stew with gravy, but rather fish pieces in sauce served over mashed potatoes. Absolutely delicious. Great pub atmosphere, overlooking the harbor. Highly recommended

We sat outside in a sunny day, the servers were friendly and the food and drink were good enough - average but good. The fish was a bit overdone the first time, but I got a new one and it was good enough.
The best part of the experience was the outside dining atmosphere.

Came in frozen to the bone after a Whale safari - and it was Heaven! Had the most fantastic traditional Icelandic Meat soup! They made half portions for the kids - even though it wasn't really a kid place. Great ambience, great service!

Based on several reviews, we visited Gamli Baukur restaurant during a recent trip to Husavik. The dinner menu was very limited and the service was lackluster

Not excellent, but OK. The food quality is a bit far from the standard of the Reykjavik cuisine but you can eat a good soup or fresh fish also here, on the town of the whales! What makes the true difference is the location, in a wooden cottage in front of the beautiful harbour of Husavik...and the kindness of the...

Husavik isn´t very big. Choices are not plenty. This one stood out not only for Husavik but also compared to many other places we´ve been in Iceland. Very friendly service. Try the local beer Kaldi. The very friendly waitress recommended it, and it was great. I had the dark variety, and it was full of flavor, with a nice taste...
