I went there for breakfast as a recommendation of a Finnish friend. A small café quite modern perfectly located right in front of the Senate place. The food was really tasty and the staff friendly. Indeed the prices are a bit expensive but you pay the quality and location so don't be surprised! For the early-birds or as a dessert... More
This is a cafe with character. The food is excellent, and the serving staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are really nice, and the view over Senate Square is lovely. Make sure to grab one of the tables by the windows! Some reviewers complained about the price, but I should like to remind them that the prices at this... More
At these prices you should expect waiter service and not DIY self service. Eur 37:10 for three hot drinks and three cakes. Now don't get me wrong, the cakes were excellent, but then again at circa 7 Euro a pop they should have been. Irrespective of the prices, I enjoyed our brief visit to Cafe Engel. I had spotted the... This is a very touristy location across from the Great White Church so expect high prices. It is very informal with some tables inside and outdoor seating in a small courtyard in back. It can get very busy at lunch and breakfast so expect to wait a little, but usually they are very good at getting you the food if... More
We went here on a recommendation from a friend and were not disappointed. It's a simple place and in a touristy area which is a combination that I usually avoid. Now it's not fancy so don't expect table service or much of an atmospheric dining experience but you could do much worse than their French style cakes and simple but... More
I had breakfast at Cafe Engel. Waitress said two times in the first minute that they have self service. I was there 8,00AM and inside were 4 clients. The girls "did not have time" to come and ask which breakfast we like to have, Not good service. Bacon was good, eggs dry. Plate too small. All fruits, melons etc was... More
This cafe is located across Senate Square and the Cathedral. Very informal and frequented by locals. Good selection of pastries and ample urns of coffee. Also lunch is available. Good people watching from the window seats.
We kept coming back to Cafe Engel as the food and drinks are good and the location is excellent with a superb view from the foot of the Lutheran Cathedral which overlooks the City of Helsinki and its harbour. Try the all in breakfast with crispy bacon, scrambled egg, toast and fruit. Very good value for Euros13. Very good coffee... More
A popular cafe, also for a weekend brunch. Great location in the center of the city on the Senate Square, a gem of the Empire Style.
