Description: Pier 10 restaurant, just behind the Central Station, is an Amsterdam gem overlooking the vast, busy sweep of the River IJ. Built in the 1930s as a shipping office, Pier 10 is now a beloved, intimate restaurant of two dining rooms, one with direct views of the IJ. The ambience is relaxed and casual, with plants and candles but no white tablecloths or plush upholstery, and yet it is as romantic as it could possibly be. Note that there are two sittings, so the second might be the more romance-inspiring of the two, depending on sunset, moonrise, star alignment. The international menu ranges from classical French and typical Dutch to creatively international with a few Asian influences. Menus change every two to three months. In warm weather, a few tables make their way onto the pier itself pure bliss.
