Description: Pier 10 restaurant, just behind the Central Station, is an Amsterdam gem overlooking the vast, busy sweep of the River IJ. Built in the 1930s as a shipping office, Pier 10 is now a beloved, intimate restaurant of two dining rooms, one with direct views of the IJ. The ambience is relaxed and casual, with plants and candles but no white tablecloths or plush upholstery, and yet it is as romantic as it could possibly be. Note that there are two sittings, so the second might be the more romance-inspiring of the two, depending on sunset, moonrise, star alignment. The international menu ranges from classical French and typical Dutch to creatively international with a few Asian influences. Menus change every two to three months. In warm weather, a few tables make their way onto the pier itself pure bliss.

Pier 10 (Stijger 10) is situated at the rear of Amsterdam Centraal Station overlooking the IJ. Coming out of the Station the restaurant is not immediately attractive, it is next to the piers where the ferries are constantly arriving an departing and the area is a hive of activity. Inside is a different story, there was ambient music playing the... More

We visited this restaurant for our 30th birthday dinner 10 years ago & were blown away. Returning for lunch to celebrate our 40th was an excellent idea! We sat in the rotunda over the water & watched the ferries come & go. Delicious brunch of bacon, fried eggs & smoked cheese on toast....dutch style breakfast. Very helpful waitress translated the... I was there at lunchtime with my wife. The location is great and the staff is kind and helpful but with our great disappointment they serve only snacks or pies for lunch! Btw the apple pie and both of the snacks (cheese one and meat one) were great. We found the price not extremely expansive but not cheap at all.

Just had dinner on June 10th at Pier 10. A friend who travels frequently to AMS recommended the restaurant. What a wonderful treat. The seafood was to die for and the Dutch salad with cucumbers was the best ever. The Au Gratin potatoes were fabulous. One of our group ordered steak which is probably not what should be ordered as... More

Great location next to Central Station. cheerful friendly service. Excellent, non-fussy food. i had perch which was cooked perfectly, served with a side of mixed vegetables and a lovely au-gratin potato side. Exactly what I wanted. Paired with a Gruner white wine and was completely happy.

Don't be fooled by the location and the building, the food at this restaurant is wonderful. The atmosphere is casual but the service is efficient and friendly. There was a steady turnover of customers, so booking would be advisable. We ate here twice and both times were fabulous. At the moment white asparagus is in season and the chef makes... More

This is a small restaurant with a very casual atmosphere. However, the cooking is superb and we found it very hard to choose our dishes from the menu. We wanted to eat everything! Just wish we had found it earlier.

Its quite a casual eatery ( as most places are in Amsterdam) and you need not worry about turning up in jeans. try the seafood - thoroughly recommended. We ordered a bottle of red... More

It is best to make a reservation as the restaurant is small. It is located behind the train station and a little difficult to find, but worth the effort. This hidden gem is nothing to look at from the outside. The food and service are excellent. If you are lucky, you might get a table in the back room which... More

My wife and I were invited to this restaurant by my colleague in Amsterdam. The restraurant is very conveniently located - very close to Central Station, with a great view over the waterfront. We had seasonal seafood, and it was excellent, especially scate. The wine list was fairly short but we ordered great New Zealand white wine. Good service. Not... More
