A must-visit for carnivores as the steak with cafe de Paris sauce is excellent, as are the chips that come with it. Very good steak with all the trimmings served in front of the Swiss Federal building. Great service, cool decor, nice wines. Salad dressing to die for - just one of many "goodnesses". They have a private room for groups of 10 or more.

You start with a very good salad, than a really great entrecote. Service is perfect. Top quality with a nice view at the Bundesplatz. Whe you are in Bern you have to go there. It's better to make a reservation.

It's the quality of the food here which lifts the restaurant into the 5 star rating. Reservation highly recommended – we arrived at 11:50 on a Saturday and by 12 there were no more tables available. Top-quality steak cooked perfectly and served with excellent Cafe de Paris sauce and thin fries.

Entrecote Cafe Federal is renowned for it's fantastic steaks and situated right in the heart of the oldtown in Berne. Staff is friendly even when it get's buy over lunchtime and the winelist is also very good. A place I love to go to, when I am in town.

We went there Saturday night, and we discovered this place thanks to Tripadvisor (#7 in Bern). we could book 1 table near the window, and we orderer 1 spicy beef tartar and 1 wienerschnitzel.
The staff was really friendly and happy to help us to understand the menu, and the place is really nice: an old restaurant in the city...
